obviously has been lately watching this team, like everybody else. Nobody has wanted CM to fail, but I have to admit I almost am looking for the knockout punch so we don't have to watch this crap anymore. If he can fix it, then show me a sign that you can, and hurry please and I'm there with you. If you can't, then gtfo of the way. Pearl isn't coming. I don't care. Go get anyone that understands the following and we will win again:

Its a freaking pg game! Either change your ways, or we have to find a coach that will go get 2 pgs that can handle the ball and love to control a game. Go get 2 slashers (jrich and McRae are perfect for what I'm talking about), 2 shooters that just shoot from draw and dish or in and out game (why can't we shoot?/find a shooter?), one big bruiser and two tall, lanky kids that are athletic as hell on d and meet the ball at its peak.
This pass it to the wing stuff and dump it to the block isn't working for our team. This playing for a halfcourt game and not using our 10+ deep to not and try to run some teams out of the gym isn't working. Hasn't been working. Hasn't worked in 2+years.

I know people will bring up exceptions where good teams win without great pg play but the fact is if you have a good pg and know how to use him, it's easier to put pieces around him and you can be in any game you play.

I just hope Larry Austin jr and Justice like our new coach because there is your pg and there is your shooter.

Lucky for his we have Darius Thompson, who is smart and wise beyond his years. Get a shooting guard to compliment him and part of the problem is fixed. Need more bigs for sure.

but what is he going to do with him when he gets them. Run the offense thru DT for a few minutes and see what the kid can do. I think if you teach a tall kid like that how to run a pick and roll up top with Stokes that he could pick teams apart with precise passing because the kid has vision and great hands. But that won't happen. DT will get out on a break or two, but the rest of the time, he's instructed to dribble it up, stand still, pass to the wing and run away from the ball.
I'd play like a robot if I was instructed to lead my team by giving the ball up immediately after midcourt everytime down. Good pgs don't want to play that way. Great pgs won't play that way.

It's frustrating because Martin is one of the guys you really want to make it, since he's not a jackass. But watching game after game, I just don't understand what in the heck he's doing (or better yet NOT doing).

I just don't get how each game we can come out so flat, and he after the game he keeps saying the dumbest things. It's almost like he knows he's in over his head.

If Hart was smart he would have CBJ give his friend Erik Spoelstra and Pat Riley of the Miami Heat a call for a little advise. Pat Riley was not only a good player and great coach he is one of the most effective general managers alive today. He is tremendous at putting together an organization which has what it takes to be a champion on and off the court. The connection is already there. Think what this connection could mean to obtaining a great coach and high quality recruits. What recruit would not want to attend an offseason camp in Miami with the Heat staff. Come on man let's get creative.

Thompson is definitely a savvy young man with the ball. My fear is that he might begin to regress under Martin's tutelage, as Stokes has.

Martin will be gone if we fail to make the NCAA tournament again, but the Pearl supporters need not get excited. I don't think he is ever going to return to UT.

They practice layups getting flogged with a blocking pad. They shoot FTS for 15 minutes at the end of practice. If that doesnt tell you about coaching ineptitude.... this will: no one on the staff seemed to realize we needed to foul to get the other team to a one and one last game. That's absurd.

I care more about hoops than any other program over there. I don't hope they lose every game so this unqualified assistant coach is terminated. That's going to happen. I do hope he doesn't go on some bs late season run that allows him to keep his job. He is not qualified. I don't care if he's such a good man...go be a priest or a pro bono doctor, just get away from here

Good point about Thompson. Martin has yet to prove that he can coach players up and make them better. Stokes has the potential to be a beast for UT but due to Martin's inability to coach players up, Stokes isn't playing to his potential. Underachieving at its finest, IMO.

Martin's biggest mistake has been his assistants. He needed to bring in experienced guys, he's got a staff full of inexperienced assistants who don't have a clue. They're all learning the ropes together and Tennessee isn't the place to do that at.

If Martin makes it through this year be needs to make a couple moves on his staff IMO.

And then I watch Belmont with proper spacing and offense get more good looks from 3 and layups against ky in 10 minutes than we would in a full game.

I know this has probably been discussed and maybe a lot of people don't like the idea of the hiring idk. That being said, is Rick Byrd of Belmont ever been a serious candidate? He does more with less and could recruit on a higher level at UT.

He teaches his kids to play without a care in the world and spaces an offense well.

The only knock I have on Rick Byrd is his age. How many productive years does he have left in him before retirement? Having said that, I still don't see how he was passed over in favor of Bonzo.

I am frustrated too, but I was in school during the Wade Houston years so my "frustrated as I have ever been" bar has been set pretty high
