About those goal posts... [donation link]

Danny White or the athletic department isn't keeping the money.

It's a VolStarter campaign, the money goes to the university to fund various projects throughout campus.

VolStarter

"Projects such as funding for an upgraded transmitter tower for WUTK (goal: $10,300; raised: $14,595 from 125 supporters); materials and programming for the OUTreach Center (goal: $500; raised: $605 from 10 donors); and funding for the IEEE Robotics Team, which raised $2,486 from 10 donors (166 percent of its goal) were examples of early crowdfunding success through the program."
I know. The AD makes more than enough money from tickets, licensing TV to pay for anything that might come up. Begging fans for money is a bad look when you make millions in revenue. The fans have already done their part just by being fans ie watching, buying tickets, buying merch, etc. We also have multiple rich boosters that give millions a year to the university.

Just watching the local news here in Salt Lake City, and they're talking about the University of Tennessee soliciting/raising funds to replace the goalposts!

Just my opinion but it doesn't look good:rolleyes:
It’s just the way things work. Universities are constantly asking for money. I don’t know why people are taking this at face value and think we’re buying goal posts or that this is something out of the ordinary. If you’ve ever had season tickets, had an Allvols account or ended up on a donor list, you’re laughing at the outrage because you know the number of requests for donations that happen.

That's very true

Again, it's not going to the athletic department but the university so "tickets, licensing, TV" are irrelevant. There's an entire department at UT (and every other university in the country) that does nothing but work people every day for donations.

Advancement

There are online campaigns constantly throughout the year looking for donations. There's one going on right now that offers Christmas ornaments in exchange for a nominal donation. The Big Orange Give is next month. Fundraising is non-stop and the goal post campaign was just one of many.

Outrageous ticket prices, no place to park any longer, now pay the piper for goal post. What’s next find coaches raise.

My only complaint is that you are forced to pay ridiculous “service fees” when we buy tickets digitally (which you are also almost forced to do). I want UT to make money bring back paper tickets and charge whatever they like. Go VOLS
