About to announce on Finebaum the FLA-LSU game will be played.

I kinda feel like UF won here. They will be a better squad next year, and now they get LSU at home when it would have been on the road.

i think that's the only thing saves any face for FL, two back to back home games.

and it made it possible for Alleva to "stick to his guns" regarding 'there will be a home game in Baton Rouge on Nov. 19'.

and i'm sure Sankey sold it as they both won.

but in reality, FL definitely lost, at least for this season, because not only do they not get the LSU home game, the also lose the Nov 19 home game.

Oh, and I think this PROVES that Florida was not the problem, it was always LSU being a pain in the arse.

To be honest, do either one of us really know the Truth. I was told Florida didn't want to play very early last week, by Tuesday it was pretty evident something was wrong.

Now we all drink too much of the kool-aid at times, but from what we know, its really hard for me to agree. That doesn't mean I won't change my mind later, but from what we know I just can't agree. I have from the start blamed the SEC, the real fault lies there. imo I have not really changed on that much since last Thursday.

I can't believe Florida spent this type of money, and I think they might have problem with collecting on 10/08 as well. I wish it was just as simple as one team being a pain in the ass, but if that was the case the SEC should have resolved it.

I have no doubt LSU was being a pain in the ass this week, no doubt at all in my mind.

as much as i hate to agree with you...the more and more attention i've paid to this, it does appear that while LSU appeared to take the high road by making all those "offers", the reality was every offer was done in favor of LSU.

it was basically "hey, jeremy, we'd love to play. we can do it saturday, sunday or monday....in Baton Rouge, let me know which one you pick, talk at ya later"

i mean really, if LSU had offered to play the game Monday in Gainesville, then why on Earth wouldn't they come out and say that? if that were the case, and FL said no, then that all but removes LSU from the equation.

well, i guess now we know.

still....geaux tigers.:clapping::thumbsup:

Eh. Neither was gonna willfully screw themselves. The game was gonna be played. And it ended up where it was proposed by LSU to begin with.

Nobody comes out of this clean from Sankey to both schools, regardless of how much a wad LGs panties are in.

If I'm a gator fan I put more stock in next year, so this is a net gain.

And holy crap for LSU next year:

@Bama
@Ole Miss
@Tennessee
@MSU
@UF

Yeah, tough road. I think you have to take this deal if you are LSU, I could easily see UF being out $10m+ from this. I'm surprised they did it to be honest.

They have another four weeks to get healthy and figure their **** out and have a chance to actually win now. They didn't have that before I think LSU would have taken them to the wood shed this past weekend. Still having a hard time feeling sorry for them

You do realize that most people on this site hate Florida and are sympathetic to LSU right?

You are correct. I love LSU, but they were a bad player in this too. Both teams used the open date to get their teams healthy. UF for Del Rio and LSU for Fournette.

In the mean time UT was playing one of the two best SEC west teams a week before playing the other.

Yeah and it seems like Fournette has quit the season -- if he has I hope he doesnt get drafted as high as he thinks he will unless its with the Browns

I keep hearing this brought up about LF being healthy for a Nov 19 game and this was my first thought. They are playing under an interim HC with a bad L in the west before the meat of their schedule. Fournett is already banged up in his last year. Hes on cruise control at best.

From radio reports there is an insurance policy in place with the league that will cover a lot of it.

LSU for Fournette..

Fournette might not be playing for a while, this game had nothing to do with Fournette. The Gators might be the weakest SEC team on LSU's schedule now. Not sure you see Fournette for a while, definitely not this weekend. It's the Guice show now anyhow.

Ole Miss
Alabama
TAM
Arkansas
Florida

I don't know the ins and outs of those policies, we have discussed them on this board a little. A few us suspect Florida might have a hard time collecting due to failing to attempt to play on another date/time other than 11 am 10/08. The policy might say the school has to make every effort to play the game, obviously its not necessarily an easy thing for us to sort out here, but I do have my doubts as to whether they can collect.

Kind of speculation for sure, but insurance companies just don't write checks for the hell of it. lol

I think it proves that Florida was dragging their feet and slow playing the situation in the week before the game, and that once the storm passed and they realized they had more leverage (i.e., if they didn't play the game both are ineligible for division titles), LSU became inflexible.

I know, my wife works for one. Im sure some homework was done on it. I doubt they went into it having no clue if something was there to recoup.

Hope they remember that when they are 6-4 entering the Florida game this season.

$7.8 mil from the ticket sales of the two games but the conference's insurance policy is going to repay them a chunk of that.

Where (and from who) is this speculation based, though? Don't take it the wrong way - I'm not claiming you actively did such - but it sort of sounds like someone just made up.

It does look like UF took one for the conference here. Hopefully, the ADs can come together and vote in a procedure that will be followed for future storm situations.
