There were liberties taken. But, also mucj research was done tk be accurate. Even down to where people were shot, chronology of gun firing, and who shot who- where they were standing etc.

Behan actually told the Earps they were under arrest. Wyatt also said 'not today'. Wyatt also let one of the cowboys go, which based on what I understand had he not let Ike clanton go he would have been jailed.

I'll go so far as to say the entire cast of Jaws. To me, Jaws is a perfect film and part of that is because everyone in that movie looked like people you would come in contact with in your daily life. No supermodels, no chiseled action heroes. Just regular looking people.
