Actors and Actresses that cannot be replaced

Good grief, yes. Some movies are meant to be left alone. Period. Hollywood needs to stop ****ing with greats and trying to remake them.

Just imagine if they redid Tombstone with Chris Hemsworth as Doc Holiday and Zac Efron as Wyatt Earp.

Every movie gets remade eventually. Fresh ideas are in short supply in Hollywood. It's sad, really.

It's about $, not ideas. Blockbusters are huge investments, so 99% are made because they are based on a best seller, comic book series, or an old TV show or movie that is already familiar to audiences. It's a safe way to go. They want to avoid Meet Joe Black disasters ($90M budget, $44M domestic sales).

Don't blame hollywood, blame moviegoers. If you want original ideas, watch independent films. There are plenty of options, you just have to stop watching the movies you see commercials for.

They already re made Tombstone. It's called Wyatt Earp and much like every other re make, it's vastly inferior to the original.

Pretty close in date of release. Tombstone in 93, Wyatt Earp in 94. Too close to be a "remake" of the other.

I was being somewhat sarcastic. I know it's not REALLY a re make. I was just pointing out that Tombstone is a far more entertaining movie than Wyatt Earp.

Tombstone I suppose is a spiritual remake of Gunfight At The O.K. Corral.

Sorry, I'll turn the blue font meter on.

I didn't mind the Watt Earp movie since it did get into the historical aspect of his life. Though for sheer entertainment and one liners, Tombstone is hands down the best.

They did it with Magnificent Seven, a classic. Not seen the remake, so not sure whether it's any good or not.

Tombstone and the origins Mag 7 are not on the same level. Tombstone is one of the most iconic movies ever made...in any genre.

If they touch Tombstone, Hollywood needs to be nuked.

Wow while I agree Tombstone should not be remade that is dreadful, and should not be used.

48 Hours and Another 48 Hours
Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte have great chemistry, amd both of these movies of 2 actors in their prime, plus a remake would include normal size cellphones, internet, and other new melinium things that aren't needed.

Belushi - Animal House
Hell basically the entire Animal House cast

Anthony Hopkins - Silence of the Lambs

Phoebe Cates/Sean Penn - fast Times

Wilson - Castaway

According to Harold Ramis, the original intent was to make Animal House a Saturday Night Live vehicle with John Belushi as Bluto, Chevy Chase as Otter, Bill Murray as Boon, Dan Aykroyd as D-Day and Brian Doyle-Murray as Robert Hoover. They all turned it down except for Belushi.

Jack Nicholson recently said that turning down the role of Ralphie's dad in "A Christmas Story" is his biggest career regret. He loved the script but they couldn't pay him what he was making at the time. That is the only example I can think of where a great movie may have been even better with a different lead actor.

Also, nobody could have played Henry Hill in Goodfellas better than Ray Liotta.

I think Murray and Chase couldn't be replaced in Caddy Shack either. Of course Ted Knight couldn't either...such a great movie.

While we're on old SNL people...Chevy Chase as Fletch, Murray in Groundhog Day..

I like the dad in Christmas Story, not sure how it would have been with Jack. Spot on with the Ray Liotta comment

With all due respect to Jack Nicholson, absolutely no way could he have done a better job than Darren McGavin!

Can't imagine Christmas Story without Darren McGavin but if Jack had taken the role, the same would have been true...he would have been a way scarier dad tho. Imagine a way funnier Shining.

LOL I watched that movie not too long ago and I realized something I don't think I ever noticed before. In the scene where Jack and his family are driving to the hotel, pay close attention to Jack's mannerisms and facial expressions. He was ready to kill them before they ever reached the hotel. He hated his family and was resentful to his wife. I'll bet their marriage was on account he got her pregnant.

Things you miss when you're creeped out as a kid. :hi: Did Kubrick ever make a movie that left your soul clean afterwards?
