first, buying that crap from the Guardian makes me even more skeptical of your ability to sort through press gibberish. Second, the plain point here is that we have some serious disagreements with Karzai and his cronies as to how to go about this. Third, nation building wasn't the function. It was eradicating the muslim loonies trying to pretend to be a government.

The Guardian is and always has been a mouthpiece for the communist party.

Karzai heads up a government that embraces islamic sharia law in it's constitution and publicly states that it intends to reintergrate the taliban into it's governmental structure, so what do we win if we win, nada.

Out policy there is the same as empowering the nazis in Croatia, the fundalmentalist muslims in Bosnia and renegade Kosovo, none of which is in the best interests of America.

Furthermore we have more muslim loonies here in America that in most of the above mentioned countries.

And still we refuse to do zilch to stem the flow of anyone, including muslim loonies, from across our southern national border.

Maybe we can learn our lesson and never elect another muslim president, but from reading the posts of serveral on this board, I'm not too confidant or even that.

Interesting...

U.S. Discovers Vast Riches of Minerals in Afghanistan - NYTimes.com

The United States has discovered nearly $1 trillion in untapped mineral deposits in Afghanistan, far beyond any previously known reserves and enough to fundamentally alter the Afghan economy and perhaps the Afghan war itself, according to senior American government officials.

The previously unknown deposits — including huge veins of iron, copper, cobalt, gold and critical industrial metals like lithium — are so big and include so many minerals that are essential to modern industry that Afghanistan could eventually be transformed into one of the most important mining centers in the world, the United States officials believe.

Well, isn't that convenient? Coincidental, I'm sure, just as our "War against Terror" just happened to take us to the oil fields in Iraq.

If you're implying that there is more strategic value in those places than we might place on Darfur, you're right.

Did you have another point, or were you also saying that we weren't after the Taliban or Al Q?

You know, the democrats were all for regime change in Iraq right up until the invasion then they became the biggest war protesters in the world, what a bunch of backstabbers, the same way they did in Vietnam, when JFK died so did the democrat party.

Anyway, no America oil company even bid on the oil in Irag after we removed Hussein.

There you go ruining the conspiracy theorists' fun with pesky details again. :birgits_giggle:
