Agree or Disagree on TV Shows that people on the internet like.

You think they are cherry picking? For what reason? It's not that serious. They don't give their criteria, and each source might have had somewhat different criteria. But, any list from America is going to have a lot of the same shows.

Greatest is not best. The TV guide is ranking greatest, which would weigh things like cultural impact, ratings dominance, etc. Greatness is resume. Best, in this case, is just a measure of how much you enjoy it. It appears that Greatest and best are synonyms in this list.

Like look at Kareem. Maybe greatest basketball player of all time. Not the best tho. I'm picking a lot of guys over him who I think are better players. He was the best at his time, tho. Just like a lot of these old TV shows.

Bill Walton is like the miniseries on the list. Somewhere near top 5 best but nowhere near top 5 greatest

Fine....but being a curmudgeon I notice the shows I love that are missing (unless I missed seeing 'em here):

Andy Griffith, M.A.S.H., Northern Exposure, etc.
Never got into Northern Exposure, but agree with Andy Griffith and M.A.S.H. for sure.

Didn't see it on the list, but All in the Family is definitely an all-time great.

Heck, just for the cheesecake, U.F.O. (1970) was fantastic. I was only eight when it was on and, while too young to know why, I knew there was something special about Gabrielle Drake and that I wanted it.

None? OK!
ER and I already mentioned AG and Cheers should be there. I like I love Lucy and Dukes of Hazzard was a classic but probably not really on my list of best of all time.

I personally hated Star Trek and MASH.

Northern Exposure....like you, I didn't follow it in the 1990s. Then, a few years ago, I became intrigued by some t.v. reruns & my wife bought me the DVD series. I've watched it all at least SIX times since my retirement! Better late than never.
