Aidoo gonna be good

If he adds some bulk in the shoulders he would look like Anthony Davis more than Kyle Alexander. He looks like a emotional robot, facial expression after blocks shots says "this is just what I do". Zero fear of the moment, at least he didn't show it.

Big time game by Jonas. Small glimpse of what he can do. Great job young man.
Let's cool the jets just a bit. He's obviously got the length but he's got to fill out and get some muscle on that frame. Defensively he's going to help. Can he pound the boards and be a physical presence? In time, perhaps. He's very, very raw offensively. Miles to go on that end of the floor. The raw materials are there. Is the desire? Is the work ethic? Time will tell. If all he ever does is alter and block shots and rebound, I'll still take it.

What should I "cool the jets" on? I will stand behind the fact that he had a bigtime game and he is going to be good. I didn't nominate him as the next Wilt Chamberlain. Kyle Alexander was a good player. No reason to think that Jonas won't reach that same level of play.

What I like about this guy is that the ball finds him. He has the natural instincts to be in the right place even though he is raw.

When Aidoo was in it changed the mentality of the kentucky guards driving inside. I saw several times they were aware of him when I think they would have gone up with a shot have it been Fulky instead. Having a strong rim protector helps the defense even when he doesn't make the block. I hope he can e better than Alexander because Alexander would disappear a lot of games over the course of the season.

IIRC Alexander often had foul troubles limiting his minutes

I see him as having much more upside than Alexander had at any point in his UT stay. Kyle was a project who worked hard and became a solid piece of a good team. Aidoo is a legit top talent (wasn't he a late 5*?) who may actually propel the team if he continues to develop over the coming seasons.

Do they still do the jump up and define your highest reach measurement with those hinged pegs? Do we know what his veridical is? With his arm length I would like to know what his standing reach is. He has demonstrated recovery speeds like Fulky has retreating from high hedge actions. More importantly he does not seem to have to fight the tendency to reach over offensive players when challenging their shots. Lots of potential for sure on the defensive side. He did have one HEAVY put back the other night along with a really nice tip in. So I will be cautiously optimistic about his offensive game till more evidence is provided. I do hope he is aggressive going back up after offensive boards. Fulky and Uros both have an inclination to look for the outlet for the three ball. Prefer a mix. Of course I have yet to receive a call from Coach checking on my availability to join the staff.

Adioo is clearly going to be able to give us minutes. He has stepped in and played well in limited time. He looks very comfortable out there. Uros, Adioo and Fulk are going to have to play big inside along with James. And our trio of guards KC,ZZ, and Scovi have to continue to pass and shoot well. James has to continue to work for that mid range shot and the team has to play that hounding defense that is their trademark.

They are different players, however they both will be good with a year under their belts.
HH has miles to go. He has a great frame, he has potential but he is very raw. A few people have unrealistically expected to much out of him this year. But he is finally learning to play closer to the basket which is step 1 for him. GBO!

Well, if folks need to cool jets a bit it is on HH. Earlier in the year there were some acting like he was getting shafted on playing time. Actually if Adioo hadn’t had Mono he probably would have been playing much more earlier. Adioo has plenty to get better on but it is clear to see he can help us right now. He can give us some quality minutes. He looks comfortable and not overwhelmed out there. HH has talent but he has a ways to go. Right now I feel a lot more comfortable with Adioo on the floor than HH. But we need Uros and Fulky to be their best down the stretch as well.

Any comfort I have that HH is or will be a player is that according to Coach it was the team that lobbied to get him into the starting lineup when he was inserted there immediately post ORN injury. That is not to say that he should be ahead of Aidoo, I like them both and we may need them both depending on the teams we play and the officials we get. I hope they both get better prepared for down the road. Fulky at the 5 and the 4 might be helpful if he is truly back to form. We MAY be able to match up big or small with most anybody and that gives me some good vibes. I don't see a need to pick between the two young bigs.

I hope the best for HH but to this point he has not done enough to warrant anymore time than he is getting. Barnes will keep playing him when he can but really, Adioo has performed better in a more limited capacity, Adioo deserves more minutes right now. He has more flexibility and demonstrating more confidence and aggressiveness to this point. HH has talent I think people think because of his high high school ranking he automatically should get playing time. I love his size and potential but that high ranking from high school doesn’t mean nothing now. But he can to be a productive player in time.

HH wants to play the four, and Aidoo is a five. I don't see them competing for PT. HH has to prove to Barnes that he is a better option at the four than Fulky or James to get PT. The thing that excites me about Aidoo emerging is that Fulky can play the four, to which he is better suited, IMO. If Uros and Aido can handle the 5 (I know that's a lot to ask of them now) then the four becomes a more solid cast.

I haven’t seen HH hit jack squat at mid range. Him shooting a 20 footer in high school might look good but he is not a mid range shooter at this point. I don’t think he is coordinated enough to play the 4 consistently right now. Maybe his height is ahead of his coordination right now. He moves stiff in the hips, needs to jump some rope. Right now he is not a mid range player. He isn’t a better option than Fulky or James. Not even close. We could use his inside game with his size right now at 5 more than anything. I don’t ever see him being a consist mid range threat, maybe that develops but that isn’t happening this year. But he will continue to get minutes when Barnes can get him in there. He is still young, and he for sure could help us down the road. This year just may be a little too soon to expect a big impact. But he still has promise.

Man, he is way ahead of the curve. He should be finishing up HS right now. I am guessing that he and the staff decided he could gain more playing with us this year instead of HS and also figured he would not be around for 4 years no matter when he started. Guess he could get some advice on BB from his older classmate ZZ, who believe it or not is a few days more than a year older. We will have to wait and see what range he gets to the greenlight on by the staff.

Barnes has to be the leader in the clubhouse as HC in signing reclassified talent. Losing ORN has pushed up his minutes and I am hoping that he has used these first few games to deal with the nerves and can settle in for some productive time this year, but be really ready for next year. It is no shock that the youngest player on the team is not a better option than the oldest guy on the team, but his 4 to 5 inches on JJJ might put him into play when foul trouble or exhaustion creates a need. He must have shown the staff something to see the floor as he has to date.

Edited to add..... Correction, he is not the youngest player on the team, that is BHH... I have intermixed facts about them all year, and I choose to blame that on the fact they are back to back in the official roster... but he is younger than our reclassified ZZ by about 5 months, but older than BHH by about 8. Of course youth and inexperience do not always align,

Some folks were expecting too much from HH this year. He is very young and probably still growing. I have seen enough to be excited about his future but in the present it is going to be baby steps with him this year. In reality he should be in his senior year of high school. Mentally and physically this is a big jump, I expect him to be much better with a year to work on his game.

I think the announcers For the Arky game said his arm span is over 9 feet. This kid needs to be starting at this point. We need that length inside. Chandler and Z need him in there to throw lobs to. He blocked quite a few shots in the KY game.

If they said 9’ they were wrong. Manute Bol’s was only 8’6” and had the longest in the history of the NBA.
