Aidoo to the portal confirmed

I don't think for one minute that the shockingly number of defections has anything to do with Coach Rick Barnes.

<burp>

I’m guessing it’s a blue blood, I mean. I’m guessing UNC, Duke or Kansas. I think he has his new team. These guys are hearing from teams all the time. I don’t think most jump without knowing where they are headed. Or at least having a good idea.
I think it will definitely be a team on tobacco rd. I’m sure he dreamed of playing for UNC Duke or NC State growing up in Raleigh-Durhum. 2 of which are losing their starting centers. Seems like a reasonable spot for him to land.

Good catch, I didn’t consider Nc State. Not sure they’d give the money he wants. I think Kansas or NC. I lean towards Kansas. All speculation on my part.

Grant called Barnes "brutal" in practice. Players don't respond to brutal as they used to since they have so many non-brutal options. I'm a CRB fan but it may appear that he is a solution and a problem.
Calipari, Self, Coach K, Sutton, Rupp, DeVoe, Knight, Beoheim, Izzo, and the list goes on and on of coaches that have said how brutal their coach and practices are. There is no problem 33% of players will run through a wall for their coach, 33% will be indifferent about him, and 33% will not like him at all. It’s just coaching

I can't grasp that you are coming off a Elite Eight....a final ranking of 5th at a good program with a good coach and yet there is several leaving. Makes zero sense to me.
In my humble opinion I believe these kids think they can go to some other school with less competition in their positions they play, play more, get more "stats" for an NBA attempt. Way less loyalty to school than $$$ these days. JMO as to why you see portals all over

Honestly Estrella did a MUCH better job against Eady than Aidoo ever dreamed. I like Aidoo but he's too soft. I'll never understand a 7 footer being soft.

It was the officiating. It took him out of the game and he didn’t know how to play it.

Maybe he thinks he’ll go somewhere where the fans will do something when they obviously get screwed by officials.

This is on YOU—Freddy Fencesitters of VolNation.

Surely Aidoo doesn’t really think he should be shooting more 3 pt shots. I know he hasn’t shot many perimeter shots, but his percentages are awful from behind the 3 pt line. Teams were more than happy to let him shoot anything beyond 10 feet.

What are the fans going to do to the officials?

Wouldn't be the first time. BHH and his crew had the same thoughts if I remember correctly.

Only 3 of those are still coaching and/or alive. That's not to say I think tough coaching is a bad thing, but if you're going to try to prove it, maybe naming coaches that aren't done or 6' under will help your case.

Basilio said that Aidoo is asking for more than Dalton Knecht got last year lol. (Supposedly was highest compensated on the team at 500k)

Aidoo released the obligatory statement and it included the following line (scratches head)

Sounds good, but doesn’t feel like a lot of sincerity in that quote. I don’t blame a guy for doing what he perceives as best for him (although I do despise this one time transfer nonsense), but these guys really need to leave fluff like that out of the statement. If you wouldn’t trade it for anything, you wouldn’t be leaving.

Just be real in the statement. “I appreciate Coach Barnes and everything he and his staff have done for me, and I appreciate the support VolNation has shown”, and leave it at that.

He's saying he wouldn't trade his experience. You can cherish your time at a place and also believe moving on is best for you.

Pretend he's your kid. Look at it in that light and you'll be able to reason through all of it outside the lense of a jaded fan and it will make sense

Choose us or leave us, it's much better for our brand to be good to all players. Smarten up, VN. I know people would rather be mad and spicy than do what's in our best interest, but maybe some people will grow up 🤷‍♂️

It’s fine, I totally understand it, I appreciate what he did at UT and wish him no ill will. I just think it’s an odd choice of words to say you wouldn’t trade it for anything in a statement in which you’re announcing that you’re trading it, that is all.

You're not being reasonable. It's common for somebody to say they wouldn't trade their experience but are also ready to move on. Anybody with life experience should understand that. Hell, there are experiences I didn't like that I wouldn't trade.
