Aidoo

I admit, my BVS tells me he’ll probably have a career game and help the hogs beat the Vols.
Yep, I have a little of that, I remember football vs Arkansas when Portal Donika Slaughter dove laid out & put his body in danger to trip up D Sampson at the 1 yard line. We scored next play but I turned to my buddy said we never saw that type of hustle when he was at UT or it seemed that way 🤣haha part of BVS.

Really? Aidoo a natural #4?

Maybe… except for the lack of handles, a fluid shot, hands of stone, and the fact that he is a big cumbersome dude without athleticism to guard on the perimeter.

Other than that, sure I guess.
Not a single one of those things are core traits for a Power Forward and outside of the handles none are true about Aidoo. You might be thinking Stretch 4 and even then most don't have those traits. Aidoo can easily guard his position on the perimeter. Do you know how few power forwards can guard outside of their position on the perimeter even at the NBA level? Handles are you joking? Aidoos hands and shot have never been in question or an issue. Big and cumbersome have never been terms that describe him.

Me too. Aidoo and KG have similar body types but that’s about it.
Which I pointed out in my post. I used the comparison based on roles not talent level. KG was a weird guy a true power forward with a stretch 4 body. He was not a big jump shooter but could make jump shots. Their games are similar their skill levels are different. Aidoo was born in the wrong era. If this was the late 90's we'd be calling him KG lite. Now because the game has changed he is going to be looked at as a backup center in the NBA more than a Starting forward. Losing him and Awaka were big losses.. It looks like Okpara will end up canceling out the loss of Aidoo. Awaka we don't have a replacement for his role on the roster.

This team has sacrificed Defense for Offense and hopefully it works out. I trust in the staff and understand if was done out of necessity, but its a divergence from how Barnes coaches. That makes it worrisome being untrodden territory in the Barnes era. Lucky for us our OOC schedule stacks up well for developing some chemistry and finding our guys, something Barnes is very good at. We don't face any real OOC comp until we go to the Bahamas and play either Baylor or Saint Johns in the second round. We wont face another currently ranked team until SEC play starts so 13 games to get in shape. If we go into conference play at 11-2 we are looking good. We drop more than a few games its scary because outside of the tourney in Bahamas we don't really play anyone beyond meh. We have looked good defensively so far against far lesser competition and our offense has not looked bad but we are only getting 15 mins a game out of Milicic (meaning a lot more minutes out of Cade Phillips than one would like) and Dubar has been Mia, Lanier has looked great though.

For you nimrods that doubt Awaka, he stayed on the floor long enough to have an 18 point,15 rebound game for AZ.

But go ahead and keep believing his departure isn’t a concern.
You: Make up argument in your head
You: Tell people who don't exist that they're wrong
You: Make up the idea that people don't think we lost something with him leaving.

Everyone else: "What are you talking about?"

Not sure about those first 2 points but this forum was full of people swearing good riddance to everyone who transferred an many threads saying Aidoo and Awaka wouldn't be missed and all the guys we had were 30x better than them. We are only 2 games into the season I know but Awaka is averaging a double-double with a block and a steal thrown in for good measure. Aidoo is not doing so well so far. Dillone is also doing well getting 6th man minutes at Penn State.

I was disappointed when I heard both Aidoo and Awaka were transferring. It was quickly spilt milk and time to move on. I was excited about whom we might get, knowing talent would be involved. That being said, it's absolutely pathetic some of the reactionary drivel we see disparaging him. We don't win the freaking SEC last year without him. So what that he folded against a couple of bigger and better centers? He will always have my respect for helping us win the SEC last year and the three, second half blocks he had against Oscar T. when he was a freshman

Its the NIL Era players will come and go and I feel we should enjoy what they did while they were here.

No reason to completely overlook their shortcomings, equally important to move on

…or get a room.
Nice try to redirect. Former players almost exclusively get brought up by the sour grapes crew who also tend to be part of the butt hurt gang, the dog whistle posse and the negavol club. I thing all 4 organisations should just go ahead a merge into the Gaslighting Society and get it over with. You show some officer qualities with this post maybe secretary or treasurer?

The Sour Dog, Whistle Butt, Gang Grapers.

A branch of the Legions of the Miserable.

For me it comes down to whether or not they are a-holes after leaving. Butch Jones, Kiffin, Cuonzo, Kevin O’Neill, Steven Pearl, Henry To’o To’o, and BH-H fit the bill for my not giving a rat’s ass about how they fare after going elsewhere. Aidoo doesn’t seem like he’s in that category and I hope he does well except versus UT.

I'm in the negavol club but the dog whistle posse are not accepting new members at this time

I would agree with that mentality to some extent. If they leave with class or with silence let em go. If they are actively hating, ignoring them is best. The thing is a lot of the being a-holes is at best people looking for reasons to be insulted. It's crazy how much people read into or twist any social media posts, usually by third parties. Silence can often heal wounds you thought were fatal. I know in my personal life during COVID I left a job I had been at for 6 years and had made a lot of close personal friends there. I felt a certain way about how things went down, held my tongue and moved on silently. Years later I have reconnected with the friends I had there and it became a huge boon at the company I moved on to, they are some of our biggest clients. Sometimes just let things cool down.

Emotions run high in situations like these with so much on the line. Oftentimes a new environment can give one an opportunity to reflect and see things differently. Sports is a lot of stress... people are putting a lot of physical and mental stress on themselves to succeed here. Whole families fates hang in the balance. Whether they go or stay could, more often than not, be the difference between their family having generational wealth or remaining in poverty. I personally give passes to everyone that endured the insanity between Fulmer and Huepel. There was some wild stuff going on through the UTAD during that time. Imagine living through that as a player entering his 20's?

I don’t get too bothered by what former players might say. BH-H seems to be the victim of having bad people in his circle of friends, family, and “advisors”. I don’t cut as much slack with To’o To’o. He seemed to have gone out of his way to take shots at UT.

But when I was that age I was really good at making stupid choices. So no big deal. Butch on the other hand, he should be cancelled. Eff him and his Bama victory cigar. I think that Kiffin was more lacking in self awareness and maturity. I think that KO couldn’t help being a d***. That’s just his obnoxious, toxic personality. Cuonzo was too thin skinned for the job and not ready for the inevitable criticisms and he didn’t know how to respond. And he should know that a handful of idiots harassing his wife don’t represent the whole fan base. CCM also had to put up with Bruce lurking around looking for attention.

IMO, Stephen is a spoiled pr***.

Key for above:
BH-H = Brandon Huntley-Hatfield
KO = Kevin O’Neil
CCM= Coach Cuonzo Martin
