Ainge cracks under pressure!!

Yeah...I don't think you can put this one on Ainge. There is blame to spread around and it starts with D-Mo...not a good game. Also, your offensive line has to give you at least a chance to make a play. Having said that, I also that once again after we got up by 10 we went way too conservative.

Really?! Tell that to his offensive line who were picking him up off his arse everytime he dropped back. Sorry, but 2 yards rushing and an O-Line that maybe held up 3 times all night is the reason why we lost this game.

Ainge and the wide receivers absolutely carried this team tonight. Our o-line and defense got abused tonight. That's why we lost.

Ainge done fine tonight, we got robbed on defense of an interception that shouldn't have been called back.....I'm really not worried about this loss because it's a long season and anything can happen....That team WON'T make it to the SEC Championship game

you need not be a Vols fan if you are going to try to blame anything that happened in tonight's game on ainge.

how many times do you try to throw the ball away knowing the split sec you let it go its intential grounding, did it last year and the first time under pressure he does it again, should have held the ball and took the sack, we lost a down and another chance to get into field goal range, he hasn't been under any pressure this year until tonight, big time players make big time plays,

Check the rule - loss of down (1st becomes 2nd) and spot of the foul (no yardage mark-off). If he didn't throw it away, it would have been 2nd down and still at the same spot -- No difference.

Give me a break, when you have practically 0 rushing yards, and your offensive line is getting destroyed all night long, what are you supposed to do? Ainge on the whole had a pretty game.

so he has one intentional grounding penalty and you think that cost us the game? are you that unintelligent? i guess you've never seen any other quarterbacks do that? or "big time" players?

like volinbham said, learn the rule.

Anyone would have cracked under the pressure our o-line allowed. This one can't be placed on Ainge, the entire o-line must take the blame, not to mention the UF d-line taking some credit. That is a good team we nearly beat with 0 yards rushing. Without the effort of our receivers, and qb, could have been embarassing.

oh, I didn't blame Ainge for the loss, the team lost, I just said he cracked again, he has got to learn to play under pressure and make good descisions, I was concerned that he has not played with any pressure this year,

There's a small difference between being under pressure and having 3 Gators on your back on any given pass play. No QB could have been very successful tonight.

Considering Ainge had to run all over East TN tonight and came away with the yardage and stats he did, I'd say he did a phenomenal job all things considered. The O-Line didn't give him much time to do anything. The O-Line allowed intense pressure on the QB and did nothing to help the run. Injuries on Defense showed but they still managed to hold on.

If you fault anyone on this game it was the O-Line. They cost the run and pass in this game.

Exactly. To have a non-existent running game and still come away with 20 points showed Ainge did something worthwhile.

The penalty for intentional grounding is to place the ball where the quarterback would have been sacked and to lose that down. In other words, it makes it EXACTLY the same as if he were sacked. Since Ainge had zero chance of avoiding the sack anyway, he may as well take his chances with grounding the ball and hope that he doesn't get flagged for it.

:furious3: Not Ainges's fault. A few bad plays by him but I place this L on the offensive play calling. I am all for establishing the run but if its third quarter and we have negative yards and the short pass is working, stick with it. No more run on first and second, pass on third.

i'm still waiting to hear exactly what these bad decisions were. playing under pressure was that quick slant to swain, playing under pressure was converting 3rd downs after our offensive coordinator decided to play run, run, pass for 3 consecutive series.

he threw the ball away but this time he knew where he was throwing -1 times. I don't see anything in him yet that reminds me of last year. Our lines are just bad. pass coverage is ok, they just cant blow people off the lines. d line is just getting abused. Playing airforce I thought it was just trying not to get legs hyperextended now I dont konw what to think. dbacks looked kinda slow tonight.

Maybe we scrimmaged ourself toooo much

Ainge was probably the biggest bright spot for the Vols.

They had better find a running game.

I don't buy that. Any quarterback can only do so much without a running game. The defense has the ability to rush/play pass defense at will with nothing to keep them honest. Did he make a couple of mistakes....sure, but overall, I thought he gave them a great chance to win. The playaction is effective....if you can demonstrate they have the ability to run.
