Ainge cracks under pressure!!

If the offensive line does not miss that last block that forces the 14 yard sack, we at least get a chance to kick a long field goal. I will take Ainge over Chris Leak any day. How many times did our defense stop Tebow for first downs? And how many times has Mapu rushed the QB and not had his elbows up to the head. Small mistakes lead to huge changes. I don't think we would have even been in this one without Erik and the receivers. We had NO rushing attack and NO help from the O-Line. Let's just say congrats to the gators because they won in the trenches. I still am not sold that Urban Meyer is the next Spurrier but at least he won. Go Vols! I for one am proud of your effort.

Ainge and the receivers carried the team up until the COACHING staff as in the past decided to run the clock out have way through the 3rd quarter. Ainge and the receivers had been great all night until we started running on 1st & 10, 2nd & 12, then obviously pass on 3rd & 18. Why did the play calling drastically change after we went up 17-10??? Our coaches need to learn how to put a team away offensively you can't beat a team in the SEC with a with a 1 score lead with almost 2 quarters left. Thats why they play 4 15min Quarters

i'd rather lose by 2 tds than lose because they thought our run game was just gonna start working all of a sudden. that's sickening.

Ainge is playing so much better then he did last year its hard for me to criticize him. I don't feel he's the reason UT lost. If anything he kept UT in the game.

I agree with that. Maybe it would be a good idea to continue to use the pass to set up the run until the defense drops back into total pass protection.....

I'm just stunned by criticism of Ainge. He played as well as anyone could ask under tremendous Gator pressure. I just don't think he has any reason to hang his head tonight.

The only legitimate concern was some of the underthrows when he went deep. The first and the last play of the game are two examples. He is like every QB UT has had since 98. Pretty average. He did not lose the ballgame.

Ainge was awesome tonight under the circumstances (poor OL & Running Game). I only wish that we would of left the ball in his hands during the 3rd quarter when we (Coaches) attempted to establish the running game (KILL the clock) when we were up by 10.

No QB in the nation can do anything if he is hit by the defense a tenth of a second after hiking the ball. Ainge was excellent in doing what he could with all the pressure. The passing game opens up the running game and the running game opens the passing game. If the running game doesn't work then pass until they drop back into cover 2 or a deep zone. the running game would have probably opened up in the 4th if we had keep the passing game going all the way till the end.

I think Ainge showed more poise tonight than he ever has. Great game for the receivers and Ainge.

Yeah...I don't think you can put this one on Ainge. There is blame to spread around and it starts with D-Mo...not a good game. Also, your offensive line has to give you at least a chance to make a play. Having said that, I also that once again after we got up by 10 we went way too conservative.
Exactly...i agree 100%!

he has reason to hang his head. he should have had 2 TD passes, but the ball was underthown on both occasions. but then again, he single-handedly kept us in the game.

just imagine if ainge zipped the very pass of the game instead of floating one up there. how the game would have changed...

Ainge was brilliant at times. Unfortunately without a running game the opposing defense can lay back their ears and come after the QB. I do not want to suggest Crompton is better, but we might fare better with a more mobile Qb and roll him out to escape the pressure.

How can one legitimately claim that Ainge broke under the pressure?

If Ainge, last year, played last night Florida would have ran away with the ball game.

This years Ainge played about as well as could be expected, yes he made mistakes, but it is football................that is why the games are played.

I can't believe that no one is praising Ainge for keeping us in the football game considering the play of the running back corps and the offensive line.

Unless Crompton has Vick speed, it is not going to matter...........

I agree with what are others are saying - That the coaching staff lost the game, because that kept trying to run- especially in the 3rd quarter. If you are making yards with the passing game then keep using it, which will eventually open up the run.
Florida knew that Tennessee was going to run on first and second down - so the stuffed the run. You blame Ainge when you keep giving him 3rd and long.

Tennessee will never be a elite team, if the keep playing too conservative. If you have a chance to blow out team, you better do it. Because good teams (like florida), have the ability to score quick.

Given all of Steve Spurrier's quirks, he had the sense of urgency and killer instinct that Tennessee has lacked in recent years.

Ainge played very well. Those who think he didn't really have no grasp on football.

As other have said ... the OL looked terrible.

It is either Ainge "haters" or Crompton lovers...............

No matter what Ainge does, it will be wrong or second guessed.

After last year, you would think Ainge would be given a little more respect or an acknowledge of positive progress..............

His 2 INTs were mistakes for sure, as he had time on both of those. But ALL QBs make those mistakes at some point. He made some incredible throws while on the run that kept drives alive. If the OL had created any kind of running game or 5-6 more pass plays with some more time, we win the ballgame.
