If he's addicted to some kind of painkiller, it's not because of a "character defect" or "because he's a tool." It's probably because he got addicted when recovering from an injury, and at this point there isn't much he can do about it. People don't "snap out of" addiction. Entering a treatment center is about the most constructive thing he could do at this point, and he should be applauded for doing it.

No doubt, more power to him. My point was that he's been doing it since college. There was plenty of time for him to go get treatment. I do believe he should have gone in 2008 in the earliest. I worked in a rehab facility and I know how it can start, I've seen everything from hard workers to bums on the street who get addicted to pain killers. If he is going for addiction to pain killers good for him but the pills I knew of him doing were xanax.
