AJ, Sapp, and O'Brien involved in altercation. (Rumor/Speculation)

I do believe that I witnessed some people smoking pot, but it wasn't anyone on the football team and that did not belong to Curt or AJ or any of the other guys. However, it was Curt's apartment so if they found it in his apartment who knows?

Apparently they gave Justin Coleman some sort of ticket instead of arresting him so hopefully that's what they did to the other guys. Last I heard AJ and Sapp were still in handcuffs.

I would also like to add that every member of the football team, or nearly every member of the football team that was there that I talk to we're not intoxicated at all.. As a matter of fact most of them were trying to keep everything under control.

Reading some twitter posts it sounds like it was a noise complaint. KPD sent out the cavalry to break up the party and didn't actually arrest anyone.

they came for a noise complaint, and came back after a fight broke out when some kid apparently kicked a girl. AJ wasn't a big fan of that in my opinion.

This along with a lot of your posts in this thread is the kind of thing that starts rumors and false accusations. You either witnessed it or you didn't but your lawyerlike language sounds a helluva lot like you didn't witness squat and are hedging your bets.

All this thread has done is panic people and generate rumors about something that looks a whole lot like nothing.

Can't be arrested for smell. You can flat say to a cop "I smoked weed ten minutes before you got here" and they can't arrest you for it.

Possession is a whole other story.

Justin Bieber says "Hi!" I know you can get high on a plane but I don't think he and his pa had the concept right. :)

Seriously, from my experience, observations, Youtube and other inline video viewing, and news reports, you don't even have to do anything for cops to stop and arrest or worse, beat you. I've known some darn good cops and no they won't play pattycake with you, all business. I've also known some who have no business wearing a uniform and badge. As for the alleged AJ incident, we don't know anything yet. I hope it's nothing, but if they broke the law, well. . .they're old enough to know better. So the cops are just doing their job.

There's no way all those cops were there for a fight and underage consumption...is there!? I mean I could see wanting some back up at a party full of drunk football players...but the entire KPD?

Pal, when you're a member of a minority, this is a common occurence. I've stood by more than just a few times and seen a man doing nothing more than waiting for a city bus. Get approached by an officer and ask why he's being bothered. Gun comes out, ordered to the ground, radio call made and as many as six cop cars rush to the scene. The sad thing is too many hoodlum and rogue cops give the genuinely professional and decent cops a bad rep. If I hadn't witnessed what I have over decades I would fervently disbelieve any and all claims of abuse of power. But again, in this AJ case, neither AJ nor the cops should be judged until the full story is out.

That does not mean a lot. The cops cuff people for their own safety until they can figure out what went on. Watch cops on TV. :eek:lol:

I see a lot of comments regarding the amount of manpower KID brought. They went to a party in the early morning with probably 40 plus people there. What do you expect them to do show up with 3 men? Personally if I was in their shoes I would want the odds in my favor. I am not sure why people are criticizing the number of policemen that showed up. At the end of the day they want to go home safely, so who cares how many showed up.

I agree. I am sick of the whining BS of some of the posters on here about KPD and law enforcement in general. There are bad apples in EVERY profession. However, KPD is recognized as the best PD in the nation - highest rating. Period.

Most of the posters on here have no idea of how trained they are to avoid the appearance of not doing their jobs correctly. Most have no idea of the number of KPD officers that are VFLs that they cheered for in years past. Most posters have no idea of the excellent diversity of race, religion, etc. they have, much less the military backgrounds many have. Most have no idea that a player off this past year's team is going to their academy - who is a racial minority. I have no sense of humor over the trashing of the thin blue line that keeps each of you safe each night when your head hits the pillow.

The police got a call. They went and handled it. The chips will fall where they may. Ask yourselves if that is where Vol football players should be at 1-2 AM in the morning if they are serious about keeping their noses clean and representing the team and university in a good light. Is it more important to be a loud party where tensions rise as the night goes on - or getting rest and staying prepared for school and work-outs? I hope Butch runs them until they puke their guts out, then runs them again. If you understand your HC at all you know that he will not put up with this boys will be boys crap.

This all sounds good, but it's not reality in Knoxville. KPD best in the nation? In what, lawsuits for officers beating up people? If you read the papers at all, you know they've done plenty of that, have had to settle at least three suits for it in the last year.

Many of the responding officers were Sheriffs Department, they're not known for their racial fairness either.

And you don't want out players going to a party at another player's house even in the offseason? Did you ever go to college? That's an even less realistic statement than calling KPD one of the best in the nation.
