On March 31, four-star athlete
Kristian Story announced that he had a "final five" of
Alabama,
LSU,
Notre Dame,
Tennessee and
Texas A&M. That may still be his top five, but a couple other schools have grabbed his attention this spring.
Florida recently offered the star out of Lanett (Ala.) and
Georgia Tech got him on campus. Both are expected to host him over the summer.
"Florida came by, offered and they are a school I want to check out more," said Story. "I will take a look at them for sure. I grew up watching Tim Tebow, so I know about what he did at Florida and I want to take a visit to see what it is like there. I will take an unofficial visit to Florida in June. "I plan on going back to Georgia Tech too. I have been there once since coach Collins took over and I really like him and the new staff. They have done an excellent job recruiting me, I like the new energy there and they are now just outside my top five. I am looking at Georgia Tech more than I was."
"I have official visits set to Texas A&M (June 7) and Notre Dame (June 21). I have visited Notre Dame once before, but this will be my first time at Texas A&M. "I love the winning tradition Notre Dame has and their academics are at the top. It would be the best of both worlds for me there with that combination. They like me as a safety and I have been talking to coach Joseph a lot too, so I have a good relationship going there as well. "With Texas A&M, I am excited about getting out there to see things for the first time. They like me at quarterback and coach Fisher has had some good ones. They have been showing consistent love and I feel I could do big things there at quarterback. I can't wait to see it."
"I was back at Alabama April 6 and I have visited there a lot," said Story. "They have still been coming hard, telling me I am one of their top guys and they have a lot to like. I grew up watching Alabama and I know their history, how they win and what coach Saban does there, so there is a lot for me to consider with them." LSU is a school Alabama has played a lot of big games against over the last decade and Story was in Baton Rouge in March. "I saw an LSU spring practice and it was my first time there — I liked it a lot. The coaches are very genuine there and there is a real family feel on that campus. I got to see the team work, spend time with the coaches and I will be back. I liked the overall feel there at LSU."
Story was at one time committed to Tennessee, and when he backed off that pledge last year, some felt the Vols were out of it for the versatile Alabama athlete. That is not the case. "Tennessee never did anything wrong. I have always had them high on my list. The feelings I had for Tennessee when I committed are still there. I just committed too early. "Them now having coach Ansley on their staff is huge. He is the coach that offered me first at Alabama. He and coach Pruitt are two coaches that believed in me early, so that means something to me. Tennessee is still up there for me."
