Tim Merritt committed to Miami during his official in June. This surprised many, us included, because of how Merritt had spoken about the Vols behind the scenes. Shortly after he committed, Merritt quietly told us Tennessee would remain a factor with him all the way to the end because of his relationship with Coach Chop and Tim Banks. Those relationships led him back for his official visit later in June.
-VQStill, it was never easy to pull him from the Hurricanes as they wanted him in the class. Tennessee fought an uphill battle in this one from mid-June on, but once they snuck Merritt back into town for the Alabama game, they started to surge. This one went all the way up to signing day with the relationships winning out in the end.
I remember arguing on here with people who thought Calloway would be a QB at UT. Probably the same ones who thought Holiday would be a QB. And Jennings would be a QB. And Trevor Duncan would be a DT.
Yeah I think you are correct. He definitely played QB in high school.
Maybe the most underrated dude in the entire class of 2025. He has a 5 star teammate who also played CB and Merrit held down his side all the same. Not saying he’s as developed as Offord, but long term….Merrit has a higher ceiling.Kid is a gazelle, and that wasn’t chopped liver he was playing against. Saraland is a perennial powerhouse.
He will never play again with so few people in the stands
