Impact Analysis
Ross is viewed as one of the elite EDGE prospects in the 2024 class, as he ranks among the top prospects in the On3 Industry Rankings.
“With Jordan Ross, I think it starts with his athleticism off the edge,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power told Volquest. “He is one of the most athletic pass rushers in the 2024 cycle. A guy who is a twitchy, explosive athlete who can really run. That first came to our attention in just watching his junior film. He really saw his recruitment explode once his junior film started to get out. Really shows great speed in pursuit. I think he has the upside to develop into a pass-rusher. He still needs to continue to develop as an overall football player and increase the production, but athletic skills are there. Then we saw him in person at the Atlanta Under Armour Camp, and he tested and moved really well. Also like the basketball background. Think he has a frame to continue to add size. Is a guy that in a couple of years with time in the strength program and coaching, his best football is ahead of him I believe. Really like the athletic profile.”
Even more importantly, Ross fits the mold of what Tennessee covets in their LEO prospects.
“I think when you look at the way Tennessee has built their roster, they have prioritized these speed rushers off the edge which I think Ross fits with what they want off the edge,” Power added. “They want to be attacking and make plays behind the line of scrimmage to put offenses in disadvantageous situations. Tennessee plays with a lead more than most teams in the SEC and in the country, so having these speed rushers is a big priority for them. I think he gives them that. I think when you look at the way they have recruited that position, he fits into the type of player Josh Heupel and his staff have prioritized.”
