Not a position of need, but definitely a difference maker type we should try to get.
We have a better 1-2 punch than they do for a fraction of the cost

Kiffin is going to pay for in-state politics and will have to pay up to retain his portal king title. He taught his locker room how to play the game and now one of his stars is playing the game.

I would argue it’s a huge position of need if Sampson doesn’t pull his head out of his arse. He will be benched or Nico will be injured next year if he doesn’t pass protect better.

we could buy 2 real, quality pass blockers (OL) for what he's asking for
I’m not saying we break the bank on a rb and hell Seldon may be ready to take the next step. I’m just saying the problem with Sampson which made him third string has been his pass blocking; he still sucks at it. With the system we run it’s going to be hard for him to be RB1 if that doesn’t change. We may have someone already on the roster though that’s ready.

We lose Dylan Sampson if we go after this kid, and pony up the astronomical amount he's going to probably ask; and, with that, the locker room. Sampson isn't going to sit behind Wright and Small, finally get his shot (a shot he took full-fledge advantage of in his first start), only for us to go after Judkins (and, the locker room, Sampson's teammates for 3 years now, won't be too happy about it neither).

you're going to have a hard time convincing me that between now and August pass protection won't be addressed with Sampson. you'll have an even harder time convincing me that he won't be willing in pass pro if it means he won't be RB1, which he most certainly will be when the season starts.

Seldon as RB2 and the some combo of KK and PL at 3.....

that's exactly what is happening. He worked them last year for ~$1.2-1.6M

that booster they have with the camo/hunting company is basically in charge of keeping him happy

He's doing to them what Baron did to us, on a larger scale. We'll see if it works. He definitely played his ass off his freshman year and made them pay for the giant pair of shiny shoes that he has yet to fill, IMO.

Even still, that's a big "oops!" for our friend Lane
The Mossy Oak guy? Last name Haas? Had no idea he was so heavily involved if that’s him.

There’s def an argument to be made it’s a need you’re right. Many here won’t admit it though.

keep in mind it was Jalen Wright that almost got HH killed in the LSU game cause he missed on pass pro...and he fumbled too much....and what happened the very next season?

Sampson will be fine.
Sampson is also 20-25lbs lighter than Wright and a much worse pass blocker no matter how you try to pick it apart. He’s truly as bad at it as you’ll ever see.
