Sampson is also 20-25lbs lighter than Wright and a much worse pass blocker no matter how you try to pick it apart. He’s truly as bad at it as you’ll ever see.
look at WRight from 22 to 23, he put on weight, maintained speed and got a lot better at the pass blocking.

to write off Sampson because of either of those things is just dumb, when we have the perfect example of what a difference a year can make. people were saying the same things, maybe to a lesser degree becuase there wasn't a QJ on the board at the time, about wright that you are pushing on Sampson.

Sampson will be fine.

UT could use another experienced RB. I'm not sure if he is it though. I know he produces rushing yds. I haven't watched a whole OM game since they last played UT. Is he a good receiver? Can he read pass pro and block? Does he have the speed Heupel looks for? Seldon, Sampson, and Lewis are top end sprinters.

If you are always chasing the better/upgraded player at every position, you will never develop a good/elite player because you will chase off all the good ones. You will be left with a starting lineup to compete with UGA and Bama and a 2nd string that competes with Vandy. What you are left with combined is South Carolina and Kentucky quality team.

RB is a position where players can make HUGE improvements in the offseason and also true freshmen can make immediate impacts. RB should be very low on our list IMO.

keep in mind it was Jalen Wright that almost got HH killed in the LSU game cause he missed on pass pro...and he fumbled too much....and what happened the very next season?

Sampson will be fine.
It was Sampson with the flubbed block. Errything else on point.

This has to be a play to try and get more NIL money out of Ole Miss. Kid is on the fast track to the NFL. It would be silly for him to ruin a good thing while he has it. You never know how success will transfer to another program. Its a risk that should not be overlooked.

Unfortunately, I think he is going to learn an early lesson that RB has less value. He is a good player, but he seems more of a product of being in Lane's offense when you look at the numbers. He only averaged 4.3 yards a carry this past season. For someone in a high tempo offense that's a mediocre result. All three of our top rbs ran for more per carry.

decent yards from scrimmage

but for someone that was being hailed as one of the best freshman RBs in SEC history (next to what we consider to be the greatest players to ever do it), you'd like to see more from him in these games:

The LSU game is good but other than that he got fat on mid-level teams and teams that had already quit. They really needed to be able to lean on him in a game like Tulane, where they were lucky to get out with the W.

If you're going to command $1M+ as an RB in college you better be AP, Bush, even Fournette great against the best

Yep, I'm not impressed. He was just given so many touches. He won't find that opportunity elsewhere in my opinion. Especially if he is only averaging 4.3 yards per carry. He only had 150 yards from scrimmage more than Jaylen Wright, yet had 130 more touches..

Dude already has 600 carries in 2 years. He should have just declared for the draft. The wear and tear on his body is gonna drop him tremendously in the draft if he plays another year of college.

he can't declare he's a true soph

I do think you have a good point though that if he is cashing in on his talent now, whatever team he is on will expect to get a ton of carries/production out of him. Which will of course reduce his long-term value, and lessen his chances of making it to his 2nd NFL contract, which is typically where you have to make it as an RB if you want to maximize career earnings
