'21 AL WDE Dylan Brooks (Auburn transfer)

You’re only addressing the casual fan in this point. There are those that do in fact spend thousands on season tickets as well as donate thousands more in philanthropy towards the university. People trade their limited time on earth for money which is called a job. So to say they have no sweat equity is superficial at best because they’re giving up something more precious than a little sodium mixed with water. These people that I’m speaking of absolutely deserve a say in the direction of the program and to call them losers when most are probably more successful than most is relatively stupid. These donors and avid fans don’t have to give they choose to. Basically, your concept of what an optimal fan is is relative to a beaten dog that the owner expects the dog to unconditionally love it regardless of the abuses suffered at the hand of the owner. Well sorry, but that isn’t me and that’s not a lot of other fans that support this great university. Some may take it too far at times but please don’t be so shallow in your prognosis of the fans of this great university. God bless.
I would wager that the vast, vast majority of negative posters have no skin in the game. It is very easy to be hateful when you don't have anything invested.

So this kid waiting to sign or he got scared off? Was really looking forward to having this guy help the DL in a bad way .

Fans can impact a coaching search but not recruiting. Lmao

If that’s the case then every school would have multiple players de-commit every time a fan would talk bad about their coach in a public manner.

Completely ignoring Pruitt’s inability to field a well coached team that doesn’t get embarrassed by Kentucky and Arkansas is the problem.

I’m not the one getting paid 3.8 million to make these decisions.

Where do you put the two on the scale of morality? I would say that know Sandusky was raping kids and remaining silent is far worse than hiring some prostitutes for some recruits, I'd say if you disagree you're pretty sick but you do you

I would say it's infinitely worse. Not even close and no comparison. And if there was reasonable proof of that, doesn't have to be absolute just reasonable, it's immediately disqualifying. That's not the case though, not even remotely.

Here's the entire history of that. Schiano was Graduate Assist. at PSU during the time of Sandusky.
A former PSU assistant, Mike McQueary stated that he had heard from another Coach, Tom Bradley that Schiano was aware of the abuse <- That is the ONLY accusation/evidence. That's it.
Mike McQueary was not on staff at the same time as Schiano and has never worked with him.
Tom Bradley has denied saying that to McQueary. He has denied any knowledge of the abuse himself and denied Schiano had ever expressed concerns to him
Schiano has denied any knowledge of it himself
The Freeh Report/PSU, OH State, and Tennessee all vetted the accusation and found nothing, as well as Pennsylvania state prosecutors.

Instead, we Vol fans decided as a whole that we didn't like the guy and looked for a reason to disqualify him. If you don't like they guy as a Coach, cool. People have different opinions. But if you're going to casually label someone as "raping kids" w/no proof, you're a pretty $hit-bag human.

Maybe Schiano will be a bust at Rutgers and maybe he would've been a bust here, no way to tell. But if you're going to map out the characteristics of who you want in a Head Coach (head coach experience, successful leading a P5 program, has turned a program around, excellent recruiter, reputation for developing players, on the staff of a Coach that's won Nat'l Championships & even beaten Saban) he checks all the boxes. And that fan reaction and behavior made what should have been a plum job toxic to anyone that had alternatives.

I hope Pruitt figures it out and turns it around but he shouldn't have losing to Vanderbilt by 25 in year 1, GA State in year 2, and Kentucky by 27 in year three with a more talented roster in every case isn't exactly confidence inspiring. Schiano by comparison also has just 3 wins this season but has done it with players he didn't recruit, in a COVID year, and w/recruiting classes ranked 61st, 65th, and 56th. His wins are against equivalently ranked programs and his losses aren't nearly as bad in comparison.

If I had to bet on one of them getting that 4th Saturday, at this point I'd take the team that went 0-9 in conference last year over the one that blew a 13-0 halftime lead to Arkansas.

You’re moving the goalposts. You said fans impacting recruiting is “absolutely not true”. A definitive statement that you’re now backing up with assumptions and conjecture. No one is saying losing 6 straight had no impact. Had a much bigger impact than what any fan says on the internet, of course!

But Is there anyone on this site who believes fans had nothing to do with the Schiano deal falling through? I wouldn’t think so. But we can’t apply that same logic to HS kids?
We don’t get a decommit every time a fan says something negative so why would every other team? No one is saying it’s the sole reason either. But to act like twitter and the rock aren’t seen by recruits is just silly. People may think it’s inconsequential but we’ve seen kids choose schools based on uniforms. Seeing them make a choice based on fans calling for the coaches head isn’t beyond reason.

Don't know what else I can add to this. 100%.

The McQueary accusation should be enough for him not to be the highest paid employee in the state of Tennessee. We aren't talking about sending him to the penitentiary.

lmao this DOES happen. I live in Austin, TX and it's happening with Tom Herman right now.

And it isn't about fans talking bad about coaches, it's about if the coaches you wanna play for are going to be there. Fan discontent makes a player feel like those coaches they want to play for are about to get fired, and most of successful recruiting is based on the relationship between recruit and coaches.

And I'm not saying that for or against coach Pruitt. And I'm also not saying that fan discontent is the ONLY thing affecting recruiting. I'm just saying that if we have the power to stop a damn coaching hire, you can be damn sure our voice has the power to affect recruiting.

At the very least those idiots could'v saved the "Fire Pruitt" thing on the rock until after early signing day lololol

Don't know what else I can add to this. 100%.

If you want to prove that people do pay attention to social media and especially boards like this one, Every time somebody takes that position, challenge their intelligence or attack their parents and other mentors poor upbringing skills and see if you hear back!!

Pruitt’s inability to field a well coached team impacts recruiting more than we do.
These are high school kids and the majority are not from this state and has multiple teams to choose from..... I, personally, don’t want to be a negative mark against the team bc of something I have said.... i agree that Pruitt has done a poor job but I don’t want to make his job harder by acting insane like some of our fans do and drive off a player or two that makes our climb back to respectability even harder......

The on the field product and trajectory of the program impacts the recruiting. Fan negativity is just a byproduct of the above two examples so the clear answer is “NO” it does not impact recruiting.

Lol. This is really incredible. I get people hate Pruitt. Maybe it’s deserved. But to act like what’s said on Twitter, the rock and etc don’t play any part in a kids decision is stupid. Doesn’t matter the mental gymnastics you try to make it seem otherwise. You just end up looking like a pretzel. Austin talks to the kids. The kid said it’s given him pause. You just sound ridiculous.

“ThE cLeAr AnSwEr iS...” gtfoh LMFAO
