'21 AL WDE Dylan Brooks (Auburn transfer)

No it's not. Committing to a coach is the only thing that makes sense. Imagine committing to Fulmer or Kiffin and waking up to Derek Dooley. These kids should be able to transfer if the coach they commit to gets fired or quits.
I hope the kid goes somewhere that makes him happy. It’s a horrible idea committing to a coach though. It’s like falling in love with a stripper. These coaches are mercenaries and will drop these kids in a heart beat for a better opportunity.

As someone who played college athletics and had the coach fired one month before I got to campus, I will never understand why so many kids commit to coaches. There is never any guarantee your guy won’t get fired or that he won’t just ditch you for a better job.

Respect to guys like Kaidon Salter who are fully committed to the Orange and White. I bet Salter is honestly excited to have a fresh start. It was pretty obvious our offense wasn’t going to do anything under Pruitt.

The reality is that’s what most kids do, whether you like it or not. Bama doesn’t get all those 5 stars because of tradition. They get them because they have Nick Saban.

I mean you’re comparing apples and oranges. Nick Saban will go down as arguably the greatest college football coach of all-time.

It's not so bad. I've done it countless times.

In some ways it is. Other ways not so much.

Most players are not gonna make money playing football after college is over. Some of those guys may pick a school over a coach. Saban along with the rest of the top schools are recruiting a higher percentage of guys that can go past college. In which case the coaches take on more importance.

And even then, most of these HS kids first connection to a program is a relationship with the staff. Like it or not in most cases the HC and staff are more important than school.

I have yet to understand why were worried about losing players on a selfish 3-7 team...
That is not how sports works.... last year has nothing at all to do with this next season..... we need as much talent as possible to be as good as possible so our next coach can have an easier rebuild.
