Alabama football: At least five players have reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus

New cases are irrelevant. A huge uptick in cases is expected since testing is much more prevalent. Death rate is the only vital stat.

Just to be clear, the WHO statement is about people who are truly asymptomatic - those who have no symptoms throughout the course of their illness. People are pre-symptomatic - those who are ill but haven’t yet developed visible symptoms - are considered contagious to others.

Researchers believe very few people are truly asymptomatic. But people with a very mild course of the disease may have considered themselves asymptomatic when they actually weren’t.

The WHO statement is very easy to misunderstand/mischaracterize.

My best friend is an infectious disease specialist in SC and is on the COVID task force for the state of SC. He has shown me internal memos passed between himself and many infectious disease specialist across the country. Many say that COVID is nowhere near as deadly as the media makes it out to be. Also, many also have stated that masks are ineffective and things have to get back to normal. Many also question the official numbers because it’s a known fact that they have been manipulated. COVID isn’t that big of a deal.

Lol. Then I guess doctors just can’t agree. I ran last week with the husband of an infectious disease doctor. They are a believer in masks. They aren’t concerned at this moment, but they are concerned about November, when the regular flu surges and the coronavirus will continue. I believe hospitalizations have had a slight uptick recently.

I guess that’s why the SC beaches are having no social distancing. I’m not a believer in shutting things down. I understand life must go on, but you can still social distance. I also believe most doctors will tell you that right now.

I wish I could help you but simple advice like "don't read it" just blows right over you head, doesn't it?

Our benevolent forum overlords have awarded you a thread in which you can post seemingly-infinite links that would be better-suited in existing threads.

That won’t stop level-headed posters from calling you out on your nonsense. Sorry to break it to you, “Nefarious Neville,” but there’s going to be college football in Neyland this fall.

You are correct. Doctors don’t agree and that’s a problem. Big problem is those whose opinions differ from the status quo are being silenced and jobs being threatened. My friend knows of several infectious disease doctors who have been terminated because of their opinions. Social distancing is not really necessary either. No most doctors won’t tell you social distancing is effective. Some will and some won’t.

Lol. It’s a conspiracy theory.

Full of you know what.

Some football officials uncomfortable returning amid COVID-19

Nearly one-third of youth and high school sports officials do not feel comfortable officiating during the COVID-19 pandemic

Sports officials at the HS and under level are attracted to the fee (money). The large majority need the additional income. They may feel uncomfortable but they will have only two choices.

Show up for your assignments or (potentially) be replaced in the pecking order.

Dr. Fauci recommends social distancing and masks if fans return to sporting events

Michigan State University Athletic Director Bill Beekman said he hopes to see Spartan Stadium with 20%-30% of fans...
Fauci erred on the side of caution when it came to fans at sporting events.

"So if authorities make a decision, which I might argue against, but if they do it anyway. They should really be careful make sure everyone has a mask on and makes sure they do it in a way where there is some physical distance between individuals. If you have people sitting right next to each other in a situation in which there is active infection in the community that is asking for trouble,"

Coronavirus cases at some schools show the return of college football contains potential roadblocks

“It has been and continues to be just planning and planning and planning and planning and planning,” Herman said. “Then all of a sudden the NCAA or the Big 12 will throw us a curveball or the CDC or the state government will throw us a curveball and we’ve got to adjust.

“Then you throw all those plans in the trash and start over again. We feel it’s certainly better than the alternative.”

LA Tech football player tests positive for COVID-19

As part of the department’s protocol, contact tracing procedures were included for the student-athletes. Thanks to the contact tracing measures, Tech was able to identify additional football student-athletes that could have been exposed.

As a precaution, those additional student-athletes will also be mandated to self-quarantine for the next two weeks.

17,000 views in less than ten days says very clearly that not only do I have a life but that many, many others consider this thread not only appropriate but informative.
In my experience, high view count on VN.com in a short period of time is more about controversy than information sharing or appreciation.

For instance, another thread with an equally high view rate (over 7,000 views in 4 days, extrapolates to about 17,500 views in 10) is entitled, provocatively, "Tennessee a Tier 3 Job".

So...it's not that your thread is famous or informative or appreciated. It's more like people slowing down to stare at an accident site, or rushing into a bar fight to get a few licks in. Some combination of those two types of sentiment.

I for one can assure you that I don't check on this thread for factual information. Just rubbernecking.

So...congrats? for something you seem very proud of, heh.

Then there is you.

I think many others just think you are a little sad and pathetic that you are so concerned over such a non lethal threat.
