In my experience, high view count on VN.com in a short period of time is more about controversy than information sharing or appreciation.

For instance, another thread with an equally high view rate (over 7,000 views in 4 days, extrapolates to about 17,500 views in 10) is entitled, provocatively, "Tennessee a Tier 3 Job".

So...it's not that your thread is famous or informative. It's more like people slowing down to stare at an accident site, or rushing into a bar fight to get a few licks in. Some combination of those two types of sentiment.

I for one can assure you that I don't check on this thread for factual information. Just rubbernecking.

So...congrats? for something you seem very proud of, heh.
Exactly....this old fart sits at home all day searching for negative college football news

If you don't read, view or comment on this thread, guess what happens? You no longer have to be so overly concerned about it. Capiche, yes? It's all so very simple, really, very simple.

And now, straight from the world of Donald Trump and butt-covering, we see:

Returning Ohio State football players must sign coronavirus risk waiver

"Referred to as a so-called Buckeye Pledge, it asks players to “pledge to take responsibility for my own health and help stop the spread of the COVID-19.”

The document goes on to warn athletes that “although the university is following the coronavirus guidelines issued by the CDC and other experts to reduce the spread of infection, I can never be completely shielded from all risk of illness caused by COVID-19 or other infections.”

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey reveals biggest COVID-19 concern

“There’s not just one concern,” Sankey said. “So, zero positive tests is not the goal. We’d like that, so if that’s the outcome — outstanding. … If I could ask for one thing, it would be effective, widely available and timely testing. That will be an important part of our summer. We’ve always known that. … The testing’s better, but even more widely available, more reliable and a more timely turnaround so that we can use for rapid testing and have a rapid answer on the test.”

They need to follow UFC's procedures.

NCAA football teams still deciding whether to release number of positive coronavirus tests

Just how many positive tests isn't known, however, because college officials are debating exactly what to tell the public. Nearly half the 66 Football Bowl Subdivision members that responded to an Associated Press inquiry last week said they were still deciding whether to disclose the number of athletes with positive tests — and just over half aren’t going to release numbers at all.

Getting international Vols back to campus easier said than done

For Vescovi, a flight opened from Montevideo, Uruguay to Brazil on May 28, the same day that Brazil was added to the restricted list for foreign nationals entering the United States.

“So we had a plan,” Eggert said. “We’ll send him to Brazil, he’ll get on the non-stop from Brazil to Houston, then he’ll go from Houston to Knoxville. But then that proclamation went in and you can’t do anything about it.”

You can’t do anything about it but keep checking. Sending emails and making calls. One day after he next. Calling the international players to check on any updates they might have.

“Because they’ll know before we do,” Eggert said.

College Athletes Forced To Sign Coronavirus Waivers To Return To Campus

Ahem.

From a functional perspective of trying to curtail an epidemic, it’s helpful for the public to know that this is going on even among the members of their beloved football team,” Michael Saag, an epidemiologist at the University of Alabama, Birmingham, told The Dispatch. “I think there’s some utilitarian benefit from a public-health standpoint.”

Ahem.

Covid-19 makes its way into negotiations of college sports contracts

The pandemic has compelled more college and university athletic departments, including those at UB, Canisius, Niagara and St. Bonaventure, to add language to contracts that provides legal and financial protection from potential losses if an event is postponed or canceled because of Covid-19.

“This has spurred a lot of processes that need to be reviewed and changed, and to be cognizant of this language that is added to the contract,” Alnutt said.
