Wearing masks may help AU athletics kickoff this fall

Masks, hand-washing, and social distancing are proven to save lives and reduce stress on health care providers. Ultimately, these simple actions could help dictate if you watch football or not.

“If we have a spike or an outbreak at Auburn, it will affect the fans, how man fans we can have. So yes, it does affect the situation,” said Kam.

Shortened college season might be the answer

The majority of of the infectious disease experts have changed their tune and say masks can help not catch the virus.

If you aren't wearing a mask when you can't use social distancing, then you are hurting the chances of college football being played this fall.

It is hard to believe SEC football fans aren't willing to wear a mask so they can have their Saturday religion back.

Until there is a vaccine, everyone needs to do their part to stop the pandemic and it starts with a mask and social distancing.

How COVID-19 impacts college football recruiting at all levels

"I honestly think this is a horribly frustrating process in a good year," Porter said. "I think this year is absolutely like rip your hair out of your head if you are a parent or player. My heart goes out to them because you never got your chance. This is like recruiting back in the '70s or '80s when I played, where after the season they (college coaches) came around and watched your tape, and if the tape wasn't good enough — see you later."

Bama player confirms testing rumors, gives inside look into COVID-19 precautions

"This week, however, a player from the Alabama football team, who requested to be anonymous, gave details about COVID-19 testing and also revealed some of the steps the team is taking during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure players are ready for the 2020 season.

“The first group of guys that tested positive – anyone around them had to quarantine,” the player said. “They did another test a few days later and some of those guys tested positive.”

Given the low probability of severe symptoms in patients in the players’ age bracket, I wonder whether teams with more positive tests now might have a competitive advantage once the season rolls around?

A 14 day quarantine order is less of a competitive disadvantage during training camp than the week before the Georgia game, it seems.

The potential scenarios are so complex, near-anything could happen including your thoughts.

Reading COVID’s tea leaves

My guess, and it is only a guess, is that Alabama will also be at something like 50 percent capacity for its home games, with a facial covering being required. Most of the Southeastern Conference schools would like to see league-wide consistency but not all the state governments in the SEC region are the same.

Which coach will turn his head when BIG JIM QB AA test positive, Thursday before the big game, you know it will happen, then when they get caught lay it on the trainer, I would say saint nick or kirby, you know nick has more power than God.

He's going to post about the Orlando Airport so let me just go ahead and shoot that down before it even gets off the ground

DeSantis says 260 workers tested positive for COVID-19 at Central Florida airport. Not exactly, Orlando International says

Greater Orlando Aviation Authority CEO Phil Brown in the statement said the Florida Department of Health did conduct 500 tests at Orlando International Airport over three days last week. Just two of the tests in that batch came back positive, he said — 0.4%.

Where did the 260 figure come from?
According to Brown, from mid-March through June 6, a total of 132 airport workers — including airline and rental car company employees, TSA workers and airport authority staff — tested positive for the disease caused by the new coronavirus. In addition to that, 128 people tested positive who don’t work at the airport, but who were linked through contact tracing to the 132 airport workers with confirmed COVID-19 infections.

USC football preparing for fans in reduced capacity Coliseum for 2020

The Coliseum’s capacity dropped from over 90,000 to 77,500 as a result of recent renovations. If the Trojans settle on 50 percent capacity to help limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus, just under 40,000 fans would be able to attend the six home games scheduled for the coming season. The first is coming up against New Mexico on Sept. 12.
