Alabama quarterback Blake Barnett transferring

Hard to feel sorry for elite QB's that commit/enroll knowing other elite QB's are there with them on the same roster. Yet they bandwagon themselves into it thinking they are the top dog. Then the wake up call comes. Good luck to BB. I could care less about how Saban and Bama fans feel about it. He needs to do what is right for him. I would say the same thing if he was at UT.

Leaving now makes sense for him. He's enrolled early at UA, redshirted and has completed 5 semesters. He can easily graduate from Juco in time to be in 2017 fall camp at another 4-year school. He'll be elligible to play there 4th week of 2017 season as well as full 2018 and 2019 seasons. Best wishes for him.

Whatever happened to David Cornwell? I'm surprised he hasn't transferred. He picked Alabama over some good schools where he would have had a chance to play.

He was dealing with some kind of injury (foot) during camp which pretty much ruled him out of seriously competing for the starting job. He should transfer too.

funny thing is they were calling this week 1.

Everyone who knows anything about the game called it Week 1. Barnett is a RS freshman who clearly got jumped by a true freshman. The only reason to stick around would be in the chance of an injury to Hurts.

I wonder if Kiffin's play calling changes and they run Hurts less now that they are thinner at QB. That has to be a concern.

I just read Saban's statement regarding Blake Barnett's transfer. He basically called the kid a quitter and made reference to the fact his own dad wouldn't let him in the house if he acted that way. I wonder if his dad let him in after he quit on the Miami Dolphins?

This makes me sick. He stockpiles and uses kids for his own purposes, and throws them to the trash heap the second a better prospect comes along. Then he has the nerve to moralize about it when this kid refuses to sit the bench the next four years just because Nicky needs a good back-up.

Media has been taking portions of his remarks out of context. He also talked about it being different nowadays and that with the QB position transfers are going to happen. He talked about helping guys like Blake carefully consider their siuation and make a well informed decision. He expressed disappointment that he chose to leave and wished him well. Media likes to sensationalize things. I think Blake made the right call for himself and that Bama will probably be better off with Bateman being the backup instead of Barnett.

Did he call the guy a quitter?

Sounds like Barnett learned one thing from Little Nicky
