The liberal bed wetting professors will flip out about the gun but the weed is ok with them.

who are the problem. If you don't think young kids walking around with guns are a problem, then you're a problem. But we know that already. I'm sure you think that if Mr. Williams were to pull his gun on you, you'd shoot him first. Dream on. The NRA self-defense argument is nonsense. Guns make America very unsafe--you'd think that would be clear to everyone by now, given the daily gun violence, but the YAHOO factor in America is very hard to overcome. Why it's given us Donald Trump--and guns and lots of other idiotic conservative viewpoints.

So cops shouldn't have them? The military shouldn't have them?

It's my understanding that the Supreme Court ruled against individual gun ownership until at some point in the 1980s, and then began moving in the other direction--toward interpreting the law to allow individual gun ownership.

You're understanding sucks.

The earliest SCOTUS cases regarding gun ownership came following the Civil War. Most specifically, Presser v Illinois (1886) found that the Second Amendment applies to individual rights.

And multiple cases that weren't specifically about gun rights still indicated that the court believed that the Second Amendment applies to individuals. Here's a notable passage from Dred Scott (1857)

"It would give to persons of the negro race, ... the right to enter every other State whenever they pleased, ... the full liberty of speech in public and in private upon all subjects upon which its own citizens might speak; to hold public meetings upon political affairs, and to keep and carry arms wherever they went."

All of this is per Kelvin Reynolds of fox 6:

Two UA campus officers say they smelled burned marijuana in the area. They walked to a Chevy Impala where the scent became stronger.
Williams told officers the car was his. Someone else was in the driver's seat.
Officers searched the car and found "a clear twist plastic bag holding marijuana in the center console."
They also found a Glock 41 pistol under under the driver's seat. Williams and the driver were read their Miranda rights.
During questioning, the driver said the marijuana was his and a friend named "Brandon Chicken" gave him the contraband to hold.
Williams was asked if he had a permit for his gun. Williams told officers he bought it 3 weeks ago while home in Louisiana.
Williams said he had a temporary paper permit by the gun store, but didn't have the permit in his possession.
Williams produced a receipt for the gun from the gun store. He thought the gun receipt would qualify for a pistol permit.
Officers told Williams he needed a valid permit to conceal carry. They arrested him and took him to the Tuscaloosa County Jail.

They did the LB a favor. How is the weed in the console or being burned providing the smell and he doesn't know it. I've always seen if you know it's in the car or partaking you go no matter who claims it.

Sooooooo........Because someone has a view point that doesn't line up with yours, theirs is automatically stupid and idiotic.

And not to be political but, the peoples disdain for the morons in charge is what gave us Trump.

The only troublesome part about this is the seeming likelihood that someone was getting high in their car, in public with a loaded firearm in arm's reach. Whether or not the weed could've altered his judgment enough to misuse to firearm is an open question. I do think it defies all logic to believe that (1) they weren't both/all burning down in the car; (2) they were planning to sit in a parking lot until the drug's effect was completely worn off; and (3) the guy who owns the car wasn't going to operate the vehicle under the influence at some point. The misdemeanor gun arrest may have saved him from DUI.

Even though the friend of his took the blame for the weed does that mean the NCAA comes straight in and asks for a drug test?

Wonder why he wouldn't be tested by the police. Is it not illegal in Alabama to carry while under the influence?
