Browsing the possession laws, I don't think it's illegal. The law says it's illegal to possess a firearm if one is a "drug addict or habitual drunkard." But I'm not a lawyer, so take my interpretation for what it's worth: very little.

Williams probably won't play too much anyway. saban gets to look tough on crime without really hurting his team. "It was an SEC game, and I won't allow any more questions."

Saban: Hello
Williams: coach its Tim Williams

Williams: well see I got arrested and I had a gun with no permit and there was weed in the car. I swear coach I..
Saban: dont say anymore, hang up and chill out

Saban calls the police department holding Williams.

Police: hello?
Saban: this is Nick Saban
Police: oh hey coach whats up?
Saban: you have one of my main defensive players locked up and this young man has a great NFL career ahead of him.
Police: hold on coach let me get the chief. Chief we got coach Saban on the phone!
Police chief: hey coach what can I do for you?
Saban: well Tim Williams is one of my main defensive guys and...
Police chief: I apologize coach, its just a formality. We know this guy didnt mean any harm when he broke the law. We know how important he is to your team so you dont need to worry about a thing.

This isn't a big deal, not sure how Alabama laws are but in Tennessee if a misdemeanor occurs in the officers presence it's up to the officer if he/she will arrest or just a citation. Hell if this happened in TN and he JUST had the gun without a permit it's not illegal. But Alabama laws are ass backwards.

As much as I want the dynasty to come falling down, I don't think there is much to see here. If anything internal punishment should be good enough.

Well there's already a precedent set by satan. He'll defend than to the end. The other guys had stolen guns with the serial numbers shaved off and didn't so much as get suspended from teams activities while and investigation was underway
It'd be nice to win at the level bama is but if we have to give up every once of integrity to do so I'd be content with where we are now
Butch might not ever be Saban but he's a good guy that cares about the kids and wants tn represented accurately

I'm gonna see if I can use some made up name if I ever get pulled over and have pot in my possesion. I'm sure it'll work out well for me.

Possession of a firearm along with a schedule 1 drug will lead to trouble here in TN.
