Alabama's victory proves nothing.

No it doesn't. Not in any way imaginable. You win by three or twenty one, doesn't matter. They split, therefore nothing was proven tonight other than the two teams are even.

I think most people will disagree with you. Bama should hav ewon their first meeting and then LSWho only crossed the 50 one time. C'mon man

Tennessee should have beaten LSU in both 2001 and 2007. Let's get a do over.

this. Anybody who has defended the bcs by using the sanctity of the regular season argument now looks like a total idiot

Not really. In two 60 minute games played under the regular rules of football, Alabama tied LSU once and destroyed them the other. LSU was only able to beat them because college overtime rules allow the team with the better kicker to win the majority of the games. As a fan, ties kind of suck, but if they can't come up with a better system of breaking them, I almost wish college football would just go back to ending the game after 60 minutes regardless of the score.

I have to disagree with you, but Im not surprised I have to. There isnt a team in the country better than bama or lsu this year. Bama won the right game and did so in a convincing manner....ergo they are the champs.

LSU was pathetic! Their offense was a joke. Jefferson was TERRIBLE. He had no idea what he was doing--bad decisions, jittery all night. The lsu coaches really screwed up by starting him--and then they kept him in WAY too long. He should have been pulled in the second quarter! Neither of these teams has a good offense! Has to be the worst BSC title game.

Either Bama or LSU would beat a 3rd place Okie State by 10+ points....this is the same LSU team that beat top ranked Oregon 40-27. The two best teams in the country played for the championship under the current BCS setup and I think they got it right.

wth is this? Alabama didn't tie LSU. They lost to them once and beat them once. End of story.

The BCS National Championship game played yesterday was the title game though, not the game they played in the regular season. UT isn't the co-2001 SEC champion.

The SEC championship teams aren't determined by poll results, though. It's set up by a series of tangible results on the field.

Sounds a bit like you want something you'll never get. Aside from a massive re-definition of what a D1 program is that brings the number of D1 teams down to a way more managable number, poll results and computers are something that will have to be used to determine a champion, regardless of postseason format.

Alabama has proven that if you pay a coach $5 mil/year, you are more likely to bring home rings. Personally, I prefer an AD (and I think Hart gets this) that does this, rather than go after those "diamonds in the rough."

No system is perfect, all have their flaws, people just tend to gravitate towards a playoff because it's more fun for the fans.

not to mention the gravitation by some to the present system due to it being more lucrative.
