I didn't click the link for the details, but was the bonus for last season's preformance or this season? If it was a preformance bonus from last season, then I have no problem with his actions. If it was a roster bonus for this season, then he needs to be at camp if he took the money. It actually seems to me that they should be able to get the money back if he doesn't show, but that would depend on how the contract was written.

They told him in February that they would release him to another team if he did not want to play for them before they gave him the check on April 1st. Haynesworth did not find a team to play for and took the check on April 1st, and now he is sitting out and demanding a trade. They are pissed because he took the money and still isn't apart of the team.

I think the money was most definitely for this season or they would not be pissed about it, and I think they will get the money back.

Also, just because you did it twice tells me you might not know, but it is spelled performance. Just looking out for you.

I'm all for people making whatever they can make.

Snyder was dumb enough to pay him guaranteed money. It's Haynesworth's money now.

Man, if Al could have gotten his bi-polar under control in college just think what havoc he could have caused...

Snyder has to be thrilled he's paying a guy 21 mil to sit on the patio at Sapphire. Great investment.

He's getting incredibly obnoxious, and there's no way the Redskins will ever learn from these mistakes with that front office.

You're wrong there my friend....this year is the first year that Washington has an official GM under Snyder...everyone thought they'd go out and spend to get all the big free agents...name one marquee player that the Redskins signed this off season (Parker and Johnson do not fall into that category)

This offseason sure, they seem to have slacked off mostly because of last year's Big Albert Fund Raiser. I just have a difficult time believing Snyder won't continue to cripple any "official" GM's handling of the team in years to come when they do have the ability to spend again.

I think (and hope) that Snyder realizes that he can't buy a good team...the guy wants to win, he just went about it in the wrong way in the past....

If you want to be successful in the NFL you have to draft well and use free agency sparingly to find those component pieces to fill any gaps. Snyder has always been the kind to try and swing for the fences only to strike out time and again. Until he learns to pick the right people in the draft and coach them up they will continue to spin wheels.

Yes it's front loaded, they've already paid him $26 MIL......being a Redskins fan, I pray that we trade him....nothing but a waste

They have already PAID him 42m of the 100m in the contract.

26m was the signing bonus iirc

2010 Salary (less bonuses) 5m

2011 Salary 4m

Hes done. Cant work for those kinda wages. lol

T.O produced on a high level for more than one-half of a season so I do not look at him the same as Haynesworth. T.O just had a big mouth, but he actually worked hard to win championships, unlike Haynesworth.

What championships?

Washington was never willing to release him. They had put him on the trading block for feelers but then changed their mind as a few teams started showing interest.

This doesn't change if he should have received the bonus or not though.

I said that he worked hard to win championships.. I didn't say that he did win championships.

It is obvious that he wanted too.

"Coach Mike Shanahan revealed that the Redskins told Haynesworth in February that they would agree to release him and let him go to another team -- in exchange for not paying him a $21 million bonus due April 1."

I was just reading it for you...

Albert Haynesworth is a piece of excrement. He proved it when he stomped on that player's head with his cleats, and he proves it again every year right about this time.
