Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

You don't see any connection between economic well-being (or lack thereof) and racism? Scapegoat-ism where one group is blamed for the economic malaise of another group is common in history and usually surges with increased economic pressure. Trump got elected precisely by playing off that (Latinos bad, you guys good). Seemed to me what she was saying is the green new deal will improve the economy and lay a foundation for better racial justice. That doesn't seem absurd, although it's certainly more complex than that.

Tell me how spending 40 trillion leads to economic security? If anything it’ll lead to hyper inflation and all of us knowing what dog meat tastes like

1. No one has ever stopped striving because of a higher tax bracket.
2. Health care is currently beyond broken. We pay far more per/capita than any country in the world and are about 28th in results. We are the most grossly overmedicated country in the world. We waste hundreds of billions annually on over priced and unneeded procedures and screenings. Nationalized health care is long overdue and inevitable.
3. Free high school for all devalued the high school diploma. Hell, free kindergarten for all devalued the kindergarten education. A more intelligent society is a better society. Look no further than the 2016 results.
4. Completely agree.

Almost all of these listed are universal Government healthcare.
Overstretched definition in the tweet above = running out of money.

Well sure, why not? After all, they live in the richest country in the world, so just suck a little harder on the government teat and we’ll all be better off, right?

Ever watched New Jack City?

1. What they do is either move their capital or move themselves.
2. The notion that our healthcare system is failing is absurd. We pay more because we get more. Even you agree with that when you call us “over medicated”. Your plan would leave us under medicated. I’d rather individuals decide how medicated they need to be. Not the government. Our healthcare system has the best survival rates in the world. Your rankings are intentionally biased because they actually penalize countries who do not have socialized medicine in their rankings. They do so by scoring “access to healthcare”

3. The question becomes how much education does everyone need. Devaluing degrees isn’t a good thing just so everyone can take bowling 101 for free. If a degree is valuable to you, you should be willing to pay for it. If it’s not, then don’t.

Well if one ignores the fact that her plan would literally wreck the economy...

Yeah, but we'd all be "equal" ... a disease ridden third world country living in hovels in what were once real buildings ... but "equal" like socialist/communist utopias present and past. Of course, the ruling bureaucracy would be a lot more equal than others, which I think is really the true aim of all socialist movements.

How? Isn't she paying awesome wages to her peeps? Its only 172k i think she gets.

Yeah, but congressional income is like an iceberg. The legitimate income is above water; the good stuff is hidden below, and we're talking a really dense iceberg, so there's a lot of below the line stuff.

Probably didn't get paid enough w/little tata's.

There was a picture several pages back, She certainly had the full attention of several interns; to their credit they did seem to pretty much have their mouths closed and didn't appear to be drooling, but their eyes were locked on the target of their infatuation. Made me want to yell "Boys, it's not worth it!"
