DHS is simply govt expansion. It should be gone
I think you could slide them back into the cabinets that previously controlled them if you wanted to shrink government a little. I've never took the time to analyze it myself, but was creating a new cabinet to umbrella all of these agencies under it warranted? Was it worth it? I'm not saying eliminate the various agencies, but what was the benefit of moving them from where they were to a newly established cabinet? Do they function differently or more efficiently?Since the DHS, which absorbed the Coast Guard, came into being after 9/11, snd now includes numerous federal agencies (including the United States Coast Guard) that have "homeland security" as their core mission...are you of the opinion that all of those agencies, including Border Patrol, CBP/OAM, the Coast Guard, and all other DHS entities should be "gone"?
It makes scapegoating easier.I think you could slide them back into the cabinets that previously controlled them if you wanted to shrink government a little. I think the idea was they would work together better as there were fewer people to talk thru to talk to another branch. But instead because they all got smooshed together they are fighting to stay individually relevant and keep their own budget so not as much team work as thought.I think you could slide them back into the cabinets that previously controlled them if you wanted to shrink government a little.
