All he had to do was catch it . . . after it short hopped . . . while trying to block the plate.

which any catcher in the bigs should be able to do, especially an All-Star catcher. The throw is clearly what made the play.

It was a very good throw. It also helped that the baserunner could have been clocked with a sun dial.

Both All Star squads are playing the late innings as if they were the Atlanta Braves.

which under those circumstances to be on such a line that quick is remarkable. I'm not arguing Martin didn't do a good job, I just don't understand how McCarver gave him all the credit and basically nothing to McClouth.

very solid point. however, I didn't think there was anything extra special about Martin's catch and blocking job on the foul ball either.

If Kazmir pitching is such a big freaking deal, then he shouldn't even be on the roster. Or maybe Francona shouldn't have burned Francisco Rodriguez with only a third of an inning because he wanted to get Rivera in the game so early. Wah wah wah.

i'm still trying to figure out why Milton Bradley is getting so much face time. It's like they are wanting him to get mad that he got pulled for Longoria.

I agree. They either need to just take a whole week off for the All Star break or expand the roster to about 30-35 players so stuff like this doesn't happen.

different strokes I guess. Him being a catcher in my mind should make him think nothing of the play.

Having heard a lot of commentary by McCarver, I have come to the conclusion that he thinks nothing a lot.

The sad thing about Uggla is that, since he's a Marlin and nobody ever seems him play, this one exhibition game is going to define his whole career. (Unless he ends up playing in a big market, I guess.)

I'm beginning to see what you are saying. Joe Buck just commented that Martin had been excellent behind the plate all night . . . right after he short hopped a throw to 2nd.

well basically all I'm saying is that Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are idiots in the announcer's booth. Anyone that played at least instructional level baseball, understands English and has ever had to suffer through a game on Fox should have already known that. :ermm:

You guys remember what it was like listening to McCarver call a Dodger game when Scioscia was there?

Complete fellatio. McCarver loves him some catchers.
