Thinking about adding shares of XOM. Basically their stock price will come down to whether or not they can keep the dividend intact. It's nearly 8%. I think the announcement for Q3 is just a couple of weeks out.
In April, Shell cut their's for the first time in 75 years. XOM's revenues and earnings crashed last quarter. Their debt is at a very high level, the dividend will have to be paid from debt rather than earnings.
I just recently learned that Exxon's previous name (Esso) comes from "S" and "O". Standard Oil. Rockefeller. Morgan. Carnegie. Vanderbilt. Interesting fellers.
