All things STOCKS

As the great Kanye West once said....when you try hard, that’s when you die hard.

Pretty much sums up my month chart.

Finally had a day this week where I outperformed the market. Need more days like today if I want to become a limousine ridin', jet flyin', kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin' son of a gun....

Lol. Smokey better bring it. I've had a hell of a couple weeks. GLD, GDX, and SLV are all flushing today, but they have treated me very well over the last couple weeks.

What are your thoughts over the next 2-3 months? Do we get the rotation out of mega cap techs into cyclicals that some of the talking heads are projecting, or do those mega caps continue to lead the market?

Personally, I think the next 2-3 months will be down after the stimulus bump. I pruned some positions in DOCU, SQ, and ZM this week due to valuation concerns. There's some value in certain sectors though.

I think there will be a bump upon stimulus passage but too many other headwinds. I think DJT will lose in November and neither scenario is good. Scenario 1 is the polls are accurate and DJT gets steamrolled. That means the Dems prolly take the Senate too. Scenario 2 is a closer loss that becomes contested. The market struggled in 2000 when this happened.

My week was a slow bleed, seems to be the norm.

NCMI up nearly 10% after hours. Debating selling Monday PM. On one hand, I'm up $100 and I really want to stick to my philosophy of taking profits when you get them. OTOH, it closed strong without any news, the chart looks pretty dang good, and theaters re-open in less than 3 weeks.

I may close half my position and see where it takes me.

It had news today. This afternoon the antitrust law was repealed that prohibited studios from owning theaters. That would allow Disney, Netflix, etc to buy a theater group if they wanted. That was the spike you saw in movie theater stocks today. I don't know how much of a target any of these names would be for an acquisition, but the legality was addressed today.

Either side having a straight flush worries me more than either party having any respective branch of government. Stalemates aren't necessarily a bad thing.

There is, however, a 3rd scenario. DJT wins and the market goes absolutely wild.

I just read that. Seems like the rumors I heard about Netflix wanting to get into the theater world hold a bit of water.

Wanted to see if any of you guys could give us some advice..my FIL passed away recently and my wife is set to inherit his pension and 401k...we don't really need the money as we live pretty simply and are debt free...I'd rather not take a tax hit and I was wondering if there is something we could do to defer it..I'd rather it be there in the future for her and in case my autistic son won't be able to take care of himself

Depends. All 401k s are not the same.
Was he retired and receiving payments?

Do you know what the tax burden will be if you take a lump sum? Might be the easiest thing to do. Tax rates are not likely to be this low in the future,

You are almost certainly going to need someone locally to help you if you are talking about a very large sum of money. The folks at the 401k and pension should offer different options if possible.
