All things STOCKS

Wow I didn't know it was that close! I'm class of '95, lived on Hilyard street and walked through the cemetery to most of my classes every day, that is unless I stopped and started drinking pitchers of hefe at the bar right off campus across from the bookstore.

Just all the proof that I needed to know there's a lot of quacks in this thread....

6/30/20 Individual Portfolio Update

REIT: GMRE, JPC, SKT
Retail: DLTR, FIVE, TSCO, WBA, TJX, WBA
Travel: H, HLT, MAR, WYNN, LVS, LUV
Restaurant: SYY, BLMN, CBRL, DRI
Stay at Home: DOCU, SQ, ZM
Financial: HQY, AXP, SCHW

Of the 25 stocks, only held FIVE, TSCO, CBRL, DOCU, SQ, ZM, BLMN, DRI on 3/31.

Five largest positions: DOCU, ZM, SQ, FIVE, TSCO/CBRL (alternates daily)

Bought a ton late last week. Lowered cost average across the board especially on travel/financial/REIT stocks

If you're wondering about that 5.5% drop in SKT over the last two days, it's because I bought in yesterday morning and gave it the ol kiss of death.

That bar would be "Taylors" recently lost their liquor license. A friend of mine owned Taylors back in the 80s. Walked through the cemetery to many a basketball game at the PIT. I was an undergrad during the Kamakasi Kids era with Ronnie Lee in the early 70s. Went back and got my MBA in 96-98. Lived on 16th and Patterson as an undergrad. My roomie stored his maryjane in a meat locker at the Hilyard St Market. Good roomie & Good times.

Revised reports on Vida, they are now saying that most structures were saved. Still smokey, at least we can see the sun now. Eyes are irritated, but thanks to a new HVAC system in my house, staying inside is quite comfortable. Driving down the streets is looks like driving through dry snow. Clouds of ash fly up behind your car. It just drifts.

That dang stock has had kiss of death longer than 2 days. I've averaged down pretty well but still in the 6.10 range for avg.

Smokey needs to stop shopping at the outlets....

Sorry you are having to go through those terrible fires. Stay safe.

Yes Taylors that was it. Missed many a class because of that place. I also "lifted" on of those tall red Marlboro standing ashtrays from Hilyard Street Market, made a helluva gravity bong.

Thinking about ARLO. Great product. Don’t know if management knows how to translate that to the bottom line though. Seems like a great idea with all of the “peaceful” protesting going on.

I planted a covered call with IDEX today at $1, hopefully it will stay a float and I can get rid of it and end up breaking even with the premiums ive gotten.

Me and the wifey are going to take a portion of the BLMN profits and hit Fleming's tomorrow night.

I'm gonna roll like @VolAllen and get a seafood tower. I'm also going to SAVE but my my idea of SAVE is discounted gift cards bought at Costco and redeeming Dine Rewards points and not yelling out $20.

The only options I’ve ever traded were buying calls. I might try selling puts on the next stock that I want to buy. I wanted to sell covered calls but never liked the spreads and prices. Still might do that though as well.

Selling PUTS on stocks you want to buy... seems like the biggest downside is the opportunity cost of missing a good run up in price. Pick a stock you expect to go up and it’s free money if it does go up. Or you get a discount on a stock that you want to own if the price drops.

Exactly, you only sell puts on stocks that you would like to own!!!!!!!

I know this is a stocks thread, but the search button for this site keeps leading me to things on here.
I have a couple quick questions if anyone can answer it would be appreciated.

1) Do we have a thread about 401K, IUL, stuff like that? I cant find one.
2) Do we have a thread talking about the CARES Act letting you take up to 100K out with no penalty?

I'm looking for some info or really just thoughts about pros/cons of taking out the 100k with no penalty now, paying the taxes now over 3yrs, and using that money to increase the amount of land I can purchase with a new home purchase I,m looking to do this year. I've been reading through this Stocks thread (not every page, and I honestly do not understand most of the jargon) and you all seem pretty knowledgeable around here.

Any info is appreciated.

Back in PINS and NCMI on Friday and added more today. Also, entered CNK. I'm really digging theater stocks right now, for long term investments. Latest stats are showing Mulan streaming sales have been underwhelming. Meanwhile, Tenet has recorded over 200 million worldwide, with only 29.5 million of that domestically. I think that bodes well for the post-COVID market for theaters and helps thwart concerns that streaming would kill the theater market.

The biggest flick near term is No Time To Die. Pushed back from April to November and has a fan base as passionate as the Vols. Goldeneye once saved MGM from Bankruptcy, so this is a pretty big deal for the theaters.

The thread title could easily be All Things Investments. You’ve posted in the right place. There are some very knowledgeable fellers that post in here and I bet you’ll have answers soon.
