All things STOCKS

Is there news suggesting this will happen? I don't think international travel will change it's policies any time soon from what I'm seeing, at least in regard to vaccination anyways.

However, I do think some members of the EU ending COVID restrictions is a great sign towards international travel returning to normalcy. It seems many EU nations are highly vaccinated anyways, certainly much more so than the US is currently.
The US has very restrictive rules at the moment, 2-28. CDC is very slow to change, but I'm hoping we drop the test to enter the US for vaccinated people.
Things are changing very rapidly in much of the world including Europe. I will be flying to Italy in March, and through today a "vaccine and test" or "test and quarantine" are required. Beginning tomorrow you need to be vaccinated (booster jabs if first two are older than 180 days) or recovered from covid or a negative test.
It appears that the requirements are similar for other EU countries. I will also be in France and Spain.
Hope for an end to Covid. We had a friend die Saturday from Covid. He was 70 and unvaccinated.

Sad to hear that. My condolences on losing your friend.

My sister and her fiance just got back from Spain. Got super cheap plane tix. $300 round trip. They both have been vaxed and boosted, but my sister still got COVID 13 days before they were set to go. Luckily it was a fairly mild case for her and she tested negative before her flight.

by who? Never liked the First Horizon name

The name was switched to build out a regional brand so it could be bought out. Good for FHN shareholders but this will be a big loss for the City of Memphis.

I've never been a fan of First TN bank as a customer. You don't get all the products you would expect from a major bank and you don't get the customer service you expect from a smaller one. It's the worst of both worlds. Regions is in the same boat.

Makes sense to rebrand to sell. Will Memphis headquarters be dissolved?

The Memphis HQ will be dissolved and they will likely keep some operational presence in Memphis for a few years but ultimately, it will be similar to Morgan Keegan, NBC Bank, and Union Planters and they will exit.

That seems to be the way it goes. Vaxed who get it have mild symptoms. Godd for her. What part of Spain?

Are they going to change the name?

They just spent a boatload of money putting a sign atop the Knoxville building.

It would be smart to keep the First Horizon brand if banking rules allow it. The T in TD is Toronto and a lot of customers might not embrace socialists holding their cash.

I’m fence sitting with a Palantir (PLTR) purchase. $11.67. Was hitting a low of $9.40 just a few days ago. Russia and Ukraine are talking. My $11.37 limit won’t execute today. I guess I’ll revisit changing the order after the close.

My mom actually has a joint TD account with her brother, who lives in Canada.

A couple weeks ago I attempted to help her set up an online account (she's still in the paper age) and it seemed overly complicated. Still haven't done it.

Cool story, I know.

Even Mom and Pop banks have online access. Regulators might have obnoxious anti-fraud measures to dance around. Especially with two countries involved.

The merger is hoping to be completed by the first half of the fiscal year 2023. TD fiscal year starts in November. TD is Maine to Florida bank but was lacking in certain Southern states such as Tennessee and were looking to build a presence in those states. This acquisition will give TD locations in 6 more states. Although TD is a Canadian bank their North America headquarters are in New Jersey, Maine and South Carolina. TD stock has gone from about $40 a share about 2 years ago to $80 now. Most TD locations are open 7 days a week (some locations are only 6 days). In the Northeast TD banks are located in almost every town. Some towns even have multiple locations.
I’m very interested to see how things go. If anyone has any questions about TD I will do my best to answer them.

I still have questions about registering for online access, but I imagine I'm going to have to talk to someone on the phone about that.

I am curious about the structure of a bank in two countries, though. I'm guessing the US bank is separate from the Canadian one? In other words, you can't have people on both sides of the border using the same account, right?

Canada and North America have different accounts and are separate. If someone from Canada is visiting North America, TD has a department for cross boarder banking which will assist them. Online banking in the US can be enrolled either online on TDs website or in a branch. TD call centers are open 24/7 365 days a year. The customer service number is 1-888-751-9000.
The hold times can be long at times so I suggest if you need to call it’s early or late. Since her acct sounds like it’s on the Canada side they may have to transfer you to them or give you a different number not entirely sure. They’re also going to want to talk with her and authenticate her if you’re not on the account. If you try to do it yourself chances are they will lock her out thinking it’s fraudulent and cause you more issues.
