US sues to block JetBlue from buying Spirit Airlines

That’s always been expected. Frontier was using the argument to further the viability of their own offer. JetBlue hired a team of lawyers a long time ago in anticipation of the Feds interfering.

I have a few shares and might buy more. It’s looking like a 50-75% gainer in about 1-1.5 years. Even if the deal falls apart, the airline is viable, worth considerably more (IMO) than low 20s/teens, AND there is a pretty good payment due to SAVE if the merger doesn’t complete.

“We said when we got the offer approved by the Spirit shareholders last year that we didn’t think we would close until the first half of 2024, expecting a trial,” he said on “CBS Mornings.”

The lawsuit is the latest by the Biden administration to seek to block mergers in industries including health care, sugar refining, video gaming and publishing. It has already lost the health care and sugar battles.

Last year, JetBlue torpedoed a deal between Spirit and Frontier Airlines, then beat Frontier in a bidding war. Frontier CEO Barry Biffle argued that regulators would block a JetBlue-Spirit deal but not a tie-up with his airline, a similar discount carrier.

To counter Biffle's argument, JetBlue agreed to pay Spirit shareholders $400 million plus $70 million to the company if the merger dies for antitrust reasons.

FDA Announces Shortage Of Ozempic

Fat Americans continue to buy all of the miracle drug that Novo Nordesk (NVO) can manufacture.

Having Ozempic face is hip.

How was J-Pow's tone today?

Anyone watching?

I didn’t. But the sentiment now seems to be more rate hikes, higher rate hikes, and a long time before rates begin to come back down. Getting to 2% inflation is going to be challenging while avoiding really messing up the economy.

Wait until Mounjaro hits the market...

I believe it is a Lilly product. Some are predicting it could be the most prescribed drug in history.

Is it not already approved? Thought they were waiting for the obesity indication approval.

I'm going to buy some AIG while we're here in the toilet.

P.S. Mounjaro is not FDA approved for weight loss. It is approved for type 2 diabeeetus. Only approved May 13 2022. Lilly is such a big company, I don't know if this moves the needle. It appears that both drugs will cost about $1000 a month or thereabouts. Weight loss is greatest with Mounjaro.

Objectively, in no way would this be "worth" $1000 a month if it cured you of everything forever. That's just a mathematical fact. But obviously it's not up to me to decide that. [Edit] At $500 a month I think it might actually start looking like a bargain to the insurance company.

That’s was I was thinking . Should be up for FDA in a few months for weight loss. I agree, not sure it’ll move the stock to much. But good too have a little bit of Lilly in the portfolio

It is on the market. I've been on it for since October. It works extremely well!

I just can't get behind LLY as a stock because they have so much going on. But, they are indeed going to make a fortune on Mounjaro.

Is there a problem with the banks?

They all have way way way too much money floating around.

We printed way too many new bills.

Besides that, I would think that the strong banks might be upticking.

Don't really follow banks closely. Know of a couple to short
