Alright So Which Is It?!

Why would I do that? You seem to support him so it would only make sense that you know about his views, right? So chime in anytime.

Exactly. There are obviously people on here that support him but nobody will or can say anything about his stance on issues or his ability to lead a nation.

I'm good looking and popular maybe I'll throw my name in and see what happens.

I don't think you needed to post today for anyone to know your opinion on W. We were discussing Obama's qualifications.

I know, it just gets me every time some righty comes and starts spouting off about Obama's qualifications when they voted for Bush twice.

You could certainly run, well, maybe back in the old days. Now, you need a pile of money or your opinions don't count.

People would not spout if anyone ever actually backed up their ideas on how grand the Obama is...

:) Very true. I took a class at UT on elections and it is staggering how much money one has to have to run and dig up dirt on the others candidates.

Many of you have remarked to the effect that it is hard to imagine a scenario in which a Republican takes the upcoming election. Well, I can name two right off the bat...

(1) Clinton gets nominated
(2) Obama gets nominated

As you know, I lean voraciously left, but I will straightforwardly tell you that I have my doubts the country elects either of those two potential nominees at this point in our history. I hope I am wrong. So, I will ask those of you who lean right...

Do you genuinely believe America elects either a woman or a black over the Republican field of frontrunners if the election were held tomorrow?

Look at the polls. The Republicans don't have a prayer of carrying Ohio or Florida. Without those states they can never win the election.

Bush's policies on Iraq and Immigration have never been less popular. He's never been less popular. Either Hilliary or Obama will beat the Republican nominee.

Don't kid yourself, this election will be another referendum on the Iraq war, just like the last election was that the Republicans lost.

The reason it gets you is that you know they have a point.:p

It's ridiculous and part of our problem as a nation. The people who would probably be the best at running our country can't get the funding. So we're stuck with that ones with the special interests and hidden agendas.

I couldn't agree more.

I think our nation is in trouble from a leadership standpoint, but I guess that is pretty obvious.

Ok, so why not Obama? Seems to me like his "lack of experience" would be refreshing. Maybe he's not as tainted as the other candidates.

Personally, I'm pulling for Hillary, if nothing else, I'll get great satisfaction out of Bill being back in the white house.

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me why.

Its pretty simple.

1. The election will be another referendum on the Iraq War just like the last election was.

2. Republicans won't carry Ohio or Florida again. They barely carried them in 04 and 00. This time they are solidly Democratic because of reason 1.

None of which has anything to do with why I should be peruaded to vote for Obama.

In simple terms, most people are going to view the election like this:

If you want to stay in Iraq vote Repubilcan, if you want to leave Iraq vote democratic.

I think your discounting the negative impact of Hillary on voters. In my mind, she trumps everything for many in the electorate.

I think the level of discontent in this country on a whole is much greater. People want change.

IMO the coming election will be about two things, the Iraq War and Immigration.

I think Incumbents on both sides take a beating, put particularly the Republicans over the Iraq war policy.

Yes and electing Hillary will secure this. Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush, Clinton...

That is what I was thinking. If we want change going back to a Clinton Administration won't accomplish that.
