I tell them they should probably purchase a gun, a cross bow, a bow, etc. When the gasoline dries up and their comfortable way of life ends, they should use those legs they were born with and start hiking to find a place that will sustain life.
Actually that would not bother me much. But the overwhelming majority of people would die. That is stupid to cause such senseless death and destruction when something could be done.
It's not like people would die because they're lazy and don't know how to go bowhunting, either. The people of this country couldn't support themselves by living off the land, even if we were a whole country of Rambo-wannabes. As humans learned 10,000 years ago, high populations require agriculture to support them.
Try growing crops without oil-based fertilizers. Try harvesting them without gasoline-driven farm equipment. Try getting food to the citizenry without trucks. You can't feed 300 million people with "work ethic."
I agree that you can't feed 300 million people with "work ethic." However, I am not concerned with feeding 300 million. I am concerned with feeding myself and my family. And, I can feed myself and my family with my work ethic. It's not like people would die because they're lazy and don't know how to go bowhunting, either.
