We didn’t take care of business. The 4 spot was there, waiting for us and we went out and got run over by USCjr and lost the heisman front runner in the process.
After seeing our pass defense against USCjr and knowing that Hooker isn’t coming back for the playoff, I don’t think we’re a top 6 team and neither does the committee. It’s not that hard to see.
A blowout loss to a lower ranked opponent matters when comparing 2 like resumes.
I understand the head to head argument with Bama but I don’t think you could find many people (outside of this fanbase , if then) that would pick Tennessee to beat Bama now.
It’s all about getting the top teams in this playoff. It’s a hard sell putting UT in that mix after the weekend in Columbia.

Yes. We should definitely base who is better on speculation rather than game results. As such, Ohio State should be ranked above Michigan.

Most likely Bama or UT weren't getting in the playoffs at 6 either way. It's not about that. It's about doing the right damn thing. Putting us above them would of assured us the Sugar of Orange. Not you got this BS about a Cotton Bowl no one wants to go to. Stick Bama in that thing

Michigan goes to Ohio State last week and wins by 22. They have one more win and one less loss than Ohio State. Why would they be ranked above?

It’s not a true playoff. It’s done by committee vote. We all heard about “style points”. This isn’t the BCS with a bunch of computers, November matters and we lost 2 by 39 points and our qb. If they don’t think we’re the more competitive team then we’re gonna get knocked down.
Im not saying that it’s right or meets all of the criteria but it’s humans voting and I understand it.

All we had to do was beat lowly SC.

Instead we got blown out because half the team didn't show up.

The Vols have nobody to blame but themselves here boys and girls. Whining about placement now is pretty pathetic. We didn't handle business so we are left with whatever scraps they give us. Such is life.

A lot of closet Bama fans on here. We have the same record. They lost when we played them and we beat LSU on the road easily. That’s really it.

I mean we all knew they were going to be ranked ahead but geez stop defending them,

Tennessee is the clear and undisputed #2 team in the SEC and if they were in the West they would be the division winner due to the first tie breaker which is head to head. But in polls people get to make their opinions more important than the actual results. Kind of a sick way to teach these young adults what life is really like but hey at least they prepare the student athletes for the real world. You know the world where opinions constantly supercede facts. Good job NCAA for buying into a system that in some f'd up way undoubtedly fulfills your mission statement.

A lot of these polls are based on opinions and agendas.
Nothing has changed with the playoffs, it's the same as before a playoff poll.
4, 8, 16 whatever it will always be the same. Voters opinions and agendas making the selections.

Personally I prefer the days when January 1st was like Christmas day for football fanatics. Now it's like, oh that was a good game but what about the playoffs.

All Bama had to do was beat us. Or LSU. Or any decent team really. Oh wait, they didn’t need to do any of that.
