Amanda Knox

She's been found guilty in the retrial by the Italian Court. Legal experts, though, are saying that it's extremely doubtful that she'll face extradition, given that she has already been ruled not guilty once before. Can't say I disagree with that...

That's why I say no to extradition.

double jeopardy?

She wasn't tried here!

Amanda Knox retrial verdict: Six things to know - CNN.com

Even if Knox is convicted this time around, it is unlikely she will ever return to Italy. One legal expert told CNN that since U.S. law dictates that a person cannot be tried twice on the same charge, she will not be extradited. "Under U.S. law, she was once put in jeopardy and later acquitted," said Sean Casey, a former prosecutor who is now a partner at Kobre & Kim in New York. "Under the treaty, extradition should not be granted."

Eric Holder will investigate her vote in the 2012 election before determining whether to extradite.

I'm really indifferent about this whole situation nor do I believe that the US will extradite her. What's unfortunate for her is that she's not a prime minister or former prime minister of Italy. I hear they get great deals on prison sentences and crazy sex & drug party games (I believe in Italy they're called "bunga bunga.)" Actually, it wouldn't it surprise me to find out that Berlusconi has a few skeletons in his closet.

What's really confounded me on this case is that THE ONLY DNA placed at the crime scene, belonged to the Ivory Coast drifter that they gave 16 years to...as opposed to the 26 AND NOW 28 year sentences imposed on Knox and Sellicito...by the time this plays out, that gem of a human being will be scouting for other coeds to celebrate his release

What's the lesson learned here?

Don't travel or live overseas if you don't want to live by their rules

State Department will allow for extradition. They will abide by the rules of the country the supposed crime occurred in. Our government isn't the most trustworthy now and will cower down to political pressure from Italian officials

I don't know what official reports of the evidence and facts of the case you are looking at but it is not the case of the murder of Meredith Kercher. The evidence and facts of the case are overwhelming against Amanda Knox.

Any chance that Amanda killed John Benet Ramsey or the Lindbergh baby?

Feel free to post a link. Everything I've read concurs that all the physical evidence points directly at the man already serving time for the crime, but if you have a source that says different, please share.

The Italian govt's case is laughable. First, it was a bizarre sex game gone awry, now it's that the African man didn't flush the can after taking a dump. Really, who kills someone for complaining about the toilet not getting flushed? You just flush the damn thing and say "problem solved". The Italians look completely foolish and incompetent imo.

And while I feel sorry for the Kercher family, their bloodlust has gotten the better of them. I understand wanting justice, but none of the facts, that I've read at least, support Knox or her then bf being involved. Seeking to see innocents punished to try and ease the pain of your loss doesn't work. That pain doesn't go away.

If the decision to extradite had to be made today, it would most likely fall on John Kerry. And if the US wanted to honor the treaty, they'd have to extradite her. I think it would be a gross miscarriage of justice, but the treaty is what it is. Personally, if I'm Kerry, I'm calling Italian officials and applying behind the scenes pressure to drop the witchhunt, but in today's world, I guess the media would eventually find out and run with the US trying to strongarm the Italians into backing down angle. It's a sad situation.

The one angle that bugs me about honoring the treaty is people like Dershowitz coming out and saying the US seeks more extraditions than any other country so for us to refuse would be counterproductive. I call bs on that. Yes, we're seeking to have Snowden extradited, but the likelihood of that happenning is slim. Not too long ago, the US sought the extradition of a British citizen for one of the largest ever US military hacks, yet they refused. If everybody else can say no, then why can't we? Screw the Italians. They can't even run their country, let alone their laughable judicial system.

You again. You're always lurking you Dragoon you. I think the facts against Amanda only support her killing Meredith Kercher.

Wait, you're that nut that claims only JonBenet's dad could have been te killer, aren't you? The one who cherry picks so-called facts? Well, there went the idea of a reasonable conversation happenning.

I've read the facts that have been reported and they indicate that the "evidence" that was the crux of the case, was trace DNA on a knife that wasn't even shown to be used in the commission of the murder...discounting the fact that Amanda's DNA had a reason to be present...since she lived there...give me some of these "facts" that the Italian high court used in their bogus decision...to my ignorant mind it comes across as MAKING IT UP AS WE GO ALONG

Knox didn't do this. The evidence of the case is extraordinarily supportive of that claim. If the trial had been held in the states, she would not have even been a suspect. This is one of the most egregious cases of "**** America!" that I've ever seen.

This case along with our domestic gems The Duke Lacrosse and the JonBenet Ramsey investigations are rampant cases of prosecutors with serious tunnel vision and an inclination to bend "facts" to present as evidence...I'm a loyal Republican who leans law and order but I'm grateful for open minds in cases like these.
