I don't know what official reports of the evidence and facts of the case you are looking at but it is not the case of the murder of Meredith Kercher. The evidence and facts of the case are overwhelming against Amanda Knox.
Feel free to post a link. Everything I've read concurs that all the physical evidence points directly at the man already serving time for the crime, but if you have a source that says different, please share.
The Italian govt's case is laughable. First, it was a bizarre sex game gone awry, now it's that the African man didn't flush the can after taking a dump. Really, who kills someone for complaining about the toilet not getting flushed? You just flush the damn thing and say "problem solved". The Italians look completely foolish and incompetent imo.
And while I feel sorry for the Kercher family, their bloodlust has gotten the better of them. I understand wanting justice, but none of the facts, that I've read at least, support Knox or her then bf being involved. Seeking to see innocents punished to try and ease the pain of your loss doesn't work. That pain doesn't go away.
If the decision to extradite had to be made today, it would most likely fall on John Kerry. And if the US wanted to honor the treaty, they'd have to extradite her. I think it would be a gross miscarriage of justice, but the treaty is what it is. Personally, if I'm Kerry, I'm calling Italian officials and applying behind the scenes pressure to drop the witchhunt, but in today's world, I guess the media would eventually find out and run with the US trying to strongarm the Italians into backing down angle. It's a sad situation.
The one angle that bugs me about honoring the treaty is people like Dershowitz coming out and saying the US seeks more extraditions than any other country so for us to refuse would be counterproductive. I call bs on that. Yes, we're seeking to have Snowden extradited, but the likelihood of that happenning is slim. Not too long ago, the US sought the extradition of a British citizen for one of the largest ever US military hacks, yet they refused. If everybody else can say no, then why can't we? Screw the Italians. They can't even run their country, let alone their laughable judicial system.
