Federal deficit to top $1 trillion under Trump
The national debt topped $22 trillion just two years into Trump's tenure.
The federal deficit under President Donald Trump will top $1 trillion this year, the Congressional Budget Office announced in its fiscal outlook on Tuesday.
The gap between the amount of money the federal government spends and how much revenue it brings in is expected to continue to widen, averaging $1.3 trillion every year for the next decade. While the current economy is strong, the independent budget agency said the nation will suffer unless Congress makes "significant changes to tax and spending policies."
CBO Director Phillip Swagel said "changes in fiscal policy must be made to address the budget situation, because our debt is growing on an unsustainable path."
That is a completely fair question that you pose. I don't know the answer. Here is a question of my own: If elected to a second term, is there any evidence to suggest that Trump would spend less money than a Democrat would? Not really. Have you seen the price tag for Trump's Space Force in the first five years? How are the Dems that plan on taking both houses and the Oval , going to slash the out of control spending , While implement their free health care , free education programs without raising taxes on the lower and middle classes , and trying to keep the stock market from going into a free fall ? You can’t do any of them without the last two happening. I’m just curious what the plan is .

It's not. I'm not voting for either Warren or Sanders in the primary. They are making impractical pledges that would hurt the country if there was even an attempt made to follow through on them.Oh I agree , there’s no way to tell with Trump one way or the other , he’s unpredictable. My question wasn’t a gotcha , I’m truly interested in how the all the purposed policies along with a stock market that set to topple at any time and a promise not to raise taxes on the middle and lower income classes will work . I don’t see it being possible .

I agree with you reb. But here’s the Trump/GOP problem. The left tells us they will spend us into oblivion. The right acts like they won’t but do it more then the left does.Oh I agree , there’s no way to tell with Trump one way or the other , he’s unpredictable. There is Amy K. with logical plans , but she's like Kasich when Trump was running-- the best candidate but nobody cares. Edit: Also, Bloomberg could sneak in.I really think anyone except Biden or Trump and we will see that free fall in the stock market we all know is going to have to happen sooner or later and with it will go consumer confidence. I honestly wouldnt won’t to be a progressive trying to install those policies at this time , it would be a long 4 years . ( IMO )
