Amateur Hour Continues

Very interesting.

I like Preet. That’s got to be one of the best podcasts going. I know he’s a democrat but it’s hard to find any points of separation between the views that he disclosed (which are generally justice/law based) and what I personally believe. And he does a phenomenal interview.

I’m curious whether he walked as he talks when he was a prosecutor, but I would assume some defense attorneys would have spoken up if he hadn’t.

He talks a great game about fairness and doing the right thing and the prosecutors obligation to do justice.

A lot of prosecutors talk like that. Not many of them follow through.
I frankly don't know his record in SDNY.

If you listened near the end he basically acknowledges he was sometimes in on some gamesmanship when it came to sentencing guidelines.

He tells a story in his book about a prostitute who got robbed and beaten very badly in a home invasion. The case wasn’t very strong. But the woman had posted images of her money on Facebook. You know, fanning it out on the bed. Their office compared serial numbers on the image to those in the suspects wallet and found matches. That is a “hats off” moment like I want to buy you a beer.

The question I always have about him is what does he do in the opposite type scenario where let’s say the woman says she got raped but she told doctors at the hospital there was no sexual assault. There’s a whole spectrum of decisions between trying to cover that up vs. dropping the rape charge. I suspect that Preet was on the good end of that spectrum but I’d be really interested to know where he fell.

Vindam was a call observer not a participant so it would have been impossible for him to have received an order of any kind.

He said Vindman "heard" the illegal order, not that he was given one.

Kelly said that when Vindman heard Trump tell Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that he wanted the country to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, the ask was for the aide "tantamount to hearing 'an illegal order."

Vindman then followed procedure by reporting his concern to his superior.

He actively worked to help overthrow a President because he had policy differences, F him.
He actively reported his concerns through the proper channels. What’s done with that info isn’t up to him. And it’s pretty funny that you are attacking one of Trumps great Generals in the process. It doesn’t concern you that all the adults have bailed on Trump? Rex, Mattis, and Kelly all bounced on this administration. I wonder why?

I see. I haven't seen where Trump gave him an order either. Notwithstanding, his job was more than just that of an observer. His job continues after the call to document and report. Maybe he was ordered by someone other than Trump to do something or do nothing.
