Amateur Hour Continues

I am somewhat surprised anyone here can find any national politician redeemable.
Quick story: I am friends with a family who had a member win a TN Rep seat. Even though i knew them for years and consider them to be great people, when they announced their candidacy i lost respect for them.

I’ve never understood the desire for people to get into politics . Given the knowledge that you can’t please everyone and somebody is going to be mad at you no matter your stance , you would think people would have to be forced into a “term of service “ like a requirement for citizenship just to find enough to fill the positions . Meh to each his own I suppose .

Same feelings but different reasons. Could not image a job where meetings, fear mongering, and begging for money constitutes 90% of the work.

How can everyone in the field be right ? They all claim to have the answers . It’s easier to disbelieve a politician than it is to believe one .

They're not all right. You assess what they say to determine if their proposals will make things better or worse than they presently are.

Because the field attracts the worst types of people. Even the ones who pursue altruistic endeavors at the local level get corrupted as they rise to national prominence. We don't have anyone who is a statesman. Who is exhibiting these attributes:
Honesty?
Responsibility?
Liberty?
Character?
Reverence?

If a politician did exactly the same things, but talked about it differently (was honest), would that make him not horrible?

My view is you find good and bad people almost everywhere. That's how humans are.

So honest = increased to 100. All other attributes = status quo?

Nope. Still horrible.

Agreed , now the only thing left to do is ask ... can I trust them to do it or are they just pandering for votes ? Just like now for example , you have a Dem party that can’t decide what it wants to be , fighting on media platforms , calling each other racist and struggling to hold leadership but the ones running for POTUS are saying hey listen to me , I’m the one that can save us all from ourselves . IDK seems like it’s just as good to close your eyes and throw that dart at a picture on the wall than to be able to determine which you can believe .

It’s going to be interesting to look back and see which on that list got more done while in office , which did more to protect the country in which the office is held , which ones did what they said they would do after their terms were up . I am curious why you started with Bush jr .

Because he was a Republican gaffe machine with bad policies and Obama was a Democrat with fewer gaffes but many of the same bad policies plus some new ones. The juxtaposition was supposed to illustrate that Trump’s unpopularity is based on the totality of the circumstances, not his politics of stupidity.

Of course there are, but being identified as any of those things would make it virtually impossible for anyone to see the good.

Serious question ... was that the stance you took when Trump said “ there are good people on both sides “ ?

Wait....are suggesting some who are actively doing the things i mentioned can be considered good?

I’m going to give Stew the benefit of the doubt of not having enough coffee yet before he read that loaded question . Lol
