If you go back and look at civilizations that have declined and why, the US is following down the same road.
Most crumbled within a generation, so America has beyond 2025. But not much.
Is this around the time Reaganomics came to light? Correct me if I'm wrong, but Reaganomics resolved those issues in the short term, but failed in the long term correct?
Actually no.
The raw data is available on line from gov't sources.
The tax cuts and simplifications alond with de-regulation and regulatory cuts almost doubled revenues collected by the Federal Gov't during Reagans presidency. Unfortunately, he had to make deals with liberals in Congress on social spending to get the defense spending he believed was necessary to collapse the USSR.
The Drudge Report is advertising the release of "Suicide of a Superpower, Will America Survive to 2025?" by Patrick Buchanon. Here's the link for those interested:
DRUDGE REPORT: BUCHANAN BOOK WARNS OF END
After reading the *exclusive* tidbit, I got to thinking about America's future and quite honestly it worries me to think about the road ahead. Is the US past it's prime? How much further can we decline before completely imploding? Our government is failing on many levels and our soceity seems extremely divided on most issues.
I'm not trying to create a "the sky is falling" kind of thread here, but the political leadership (on both sides of the aisle) and society of today really scare me. I was just curious to know if you guys share my concerns or if I'm just a crazy nut for being worried about our future.
that's just dumb
it's the truth, the govenment does not work for the people anymore. sooner or later the people will have to take it back. just the way things go. unless your rich which you must be and good for you, but most of us are not. there is little chance of retirement, healthcare or much of a quality of life in the near future, and the government does not care because well they have all the money. it's pretty simple.
why stay?
that may be the truth in your little world but it doesn't carry over to most. I'm not rich and have, or will have, all the things you listed. Quit looking for the govt to help you and do it yourself.
Yes the current gov't sucks but it's not preventing most people from working and being successful in life. All this whining about "the rich" is tired and played.
only the rich can afford to travel
there are no jobs in ohio, i'm lucky to have one. don't want a hand out from the goverment either, just want them to do there job which they don't.
how is it their responsibility to get you a better job? If there are no jobs where you live then pack up and go find one. Take ownership of your life and quit looking to DC for help
they could fix SS. why are we paying in when it won't be there. i could invest that money. why are we paying taxes for losers that don't do a damn thing. i could invest that money and help my retirement. your government wants it all.
