Amy Coney Barrett Supreme Court

Studies like these fail to take into account the differences in population health. We have a population that has poor dietary standards - foods containing lots of sugars, smaller amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables, and plenty of fast food and snacks. We tend to have more obesity because our population doesn't do much manual labor these days. Those factors add up whether it's vascular issues, complications of other diseases due to diabetes, or overstressing joints due to obesity. The results often times depend on how you weigh the factors that go into "measuring" healthcare. Sometimes it has more to do with the overall health of the population than the delivery of healthcare.

Look at the listing that had the US at 37 and Italy at 2. Italian healthcare was a disaster when covid struck. There are so many factors in play when it comes to measuring complex dynamics that few are truly objective and most have an agenda.

I’m just looking forward to somebody actually asking her a question and having an actual exchange.
She is qualified and they know it. Look for more speeches . Any questions will be followed by interrupting her answers. They have zero chance of a gotcha moment but they will try to manufacture one anyway.

I finally got around to reading some of the committee's opening statements. The ACA was obviously a large focus, but it did surprise me how few Democrats raised the issue of "women's rights." In fact, the Senator that made the most vociferous case that Barrett's confirmation would be harmful to "women's rights" was Patrick Leahy. If an 80 year-old, white, male, Republican had lectured a woman about "women's rights", "mansplaining" would replace "the" on the list of most frequently used English words.

I just showed you that the costs aren’t worth it. Actually your healthcare cost doesn’t go toward the research you are talking about, it goes toward paying for your care. Care is about results and my FACTS point out that we don’t have the best results in every case. Sometimes the worst. So sit down.
however the only time we have the "worst" results in healthcare comes from the lifestyle and choices of the patients (drug/alcohol use, smoking, suicidal tendencies, obesity, blood pressure, diabetes, etc) ....we are a country where people can do literally anything they want and have anything they want but the issue is people don't take care of themselves and have bad health...but that's on them, not the healthcare system

Wrong. We’re fat, lazy, unhealthy eaters... but that’s not the only reason we have bad outcomes.

Feinstein is asking for ACB's opinion on CA vs. TX. Why would any judge comment on a case before it goes to court?

She, like a whole bunch of old politicians that have been there for 50 years, need to give it up and let other younger spitfires come into her/his place of office. These old hats brains have pretty much turned to mush.

By the lack of our resident “lawyers” posting page after page of tweets by former Obama lawyers saying why ACB is clearly disqualified tells me they’re out of ammo. I’m guessing they’re in the corner in a fetal position clutching their pearls at this point.

I wonder if Blassey Ford is driving in from the West Coast yet.

so for those of us at the beach on vacation. what happened. thanks

Cornyn mentioned the copious amounts of notes and documents that the members of the committee had in front of them and were using for reference. He asked Barrett to hold up the single notepad that was in front of her.

She held up a blank notepad.

Cornyn asked if there was anything written on it.

Barrett responded "The letterhead says "United States Senate."
