An offseason hunch on RBs…

Small and Wright are avg RBs at SEC level. Would either be on the field at Bama or GA? They don’t consistently impact the game. Sampson is a step above those two. Hopefully Seldon will stay at RB at could be at another level.
Yes, they could and likely one would. I prefer guys that find the end zone and both of our guys found it more than Gibbs. If Wright buttons down on his fumbling, he is producing as well as Gibbs.

I appreciate Small but believe him to be physically limited. He does not have good speed. His other abilities are not "elite". What he brings is experience, knowledge, and consistency.

Wright otoh has the speed to be considered among the top tier. He runs with very good power and showed a knack for finding creases last fall. I'm not sure why so many are working so hard to dismiss him. Very good RB.

I am very excited about Sampson. He had the one very critical bust however his mistakes were not otherwise glaring. I actually think he and Wright are cut from the same cloth. Both have good speed. Both find the crease and get up field. Wright has more power but Sampson maybe a little more wiggle.

Three RBs like those as your foundation is why UT was among the SEC's top rushing programs last year. Against the SEC only, UT was third behind Ole Miss and Arkansas. They were ahead of UGA, Auburn, UF, and Bama. They averaged 40 ypg more than Bama vs the SEC.

So yeah, those guys can produce in the SEC.

I agree with you about Wright. He had limited carries due to turnovers but I think he is abjve average and hopefully can be even better

Jabari Small and Jaylen Wright will need to be better this year or they’ll be watching a whole lot of Dylan Sampson and DeSean Bishop from the sideline come fall. This offense with backs that are legitimate big play guys will be darn near impossible to stop with quality line play. Heupel knows this.
uhhhhh... Puff puff pass.......

I hear you on Sampson.. but Bishop lol.. not likely. Jabari Small and Jaylen Wright only need to stay healthy.. period that's all they have to do to keep their jobs... they have proved enough for that. Sampson might have a word about snaps this year but trust me if healthy those 2 will get their snaps period.

Um. I don’t have a subscription to VQ so I can’t read the article, but this headline seems to indicate my RB hunch may not be too far off in their eyes…

Honestly, Bishop needs a year of rest and recovery. The kid had a gazillion carries over his high school career. He has tons of talent and can be very good here, but I hope that he redshirts and gets some recovery and rest for his body.

No you are.
No disrespect.

They're just preaching that the competition is higher than it's been at that position.

Bishop, Seldon and Sampson are all guys that will help the team even now. But Wright is only a true junior but has 1,300 yards and 20 TDs. Small runs can move the pile now we runs. Sampson again will make plays, but even he will still take a backseat this season.

Hey...maybe you will end up being right, but those guys would have to get injured imo

You may be right, but on a scale of 1-10 Small is about a 6.5-7 and Wright a 7-7.5. They’re good players but neither is close to great. Maybe these younger guys aren’t better, but I believe there’s a really good chance they are and will cut into the veterans snaps—which will be great for the team.

Lol. Sampson or Bishop would not be on the field at Bama or UGA. Just stop it.

Lol. That’s not what I said at all. I think Sampson has the potential to better than Wright or Small. I think Seldon could eventually be better also. I didn’t mention Bishop at all. I don’t think any would be on field for Bama or GA
