An Open Letter To Wayne Chism.

Chism will be better suited if he learns some ball ball handling skills and a better jump shot. Plain and simple. Now, I am NOT saying that is what UT needs exactly. But, it would better chism a great deal.

Smith should have been groomed for the 2 position for the NBA. Witch means you can play him at the three, but teach him how to catch and shoot, and create his own shot. That is what will get Smith paid in the NBA. He will NEVER be a three in a league where his body is a 2.

What i'm saying is it would take a lot more work for him to "make it" as a 3. He's too slow to play the 3. He is big enough(would be better if he was bigger) to hold his own in the paint, even in the NBA.

No, but it proves that size isn't everything. Chism can make it as a power forward. I'm not sure what's so hard to understand about that. He has the ability. Forget everything else, if he works hard he can make it.

Dude, seriously, size is not everything IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE ONE OF THE GREATS. In the cases you brought up, you were talking about

1. An absolute work horse who was groomed under Tubby Smith to play out of position, and....

2. an NBA HOFer.

Get real. Chism is neither. Chism will play in Europe somewhere. He is not strong, has 0 jump shot, and less than decent post moves. He simply does not have it. He also is not coachable.

Chism, with his size, would be an excellent small forward in the NBA. If he had been developed for it. You can see chism has athletic ability. Pearl should have used that to get him better ball handling ability, and a better jump shot. Then, he would have really gotten paid. Problem is, Pearl is a pump brother prospect who couldn't develop a Buck to snort.

I think you sell him short on athletic ability. Chism needs a coach to TEACH, and it could have happened. No player should go to UT if development is the key factor. Wayne picked the wrong coach. Not saying program, but COACH.

What I am saying is if you think Chism will be a all the time 4 in the NBA, you are mistaken. Now, a "sometimes" 4, maybe. But with his inability to put the ball on the floor, 0 jump shot, less than stellar post moves, softness, lack of in game IQ(BECAUSE OF THE SYSTEM YOU RUN), he won't cut it. He needs more all around game so they can play him at multiple positions. He is not good enough at 1 position to get paid to play ONE position. He needs more to offer.

I brought up a great example. Patrick Patterson. Great body, frame, and an excellent post game. But, He is not quite the usual size for his position. This is why he is learning other aspects of the game. To be more valuable in case they need him to play the 3 or the 4. It's not a hard concept to understand.

Chism has a better jump shot than Patterson. If you actually think anything different you're ignorant. Chism has proven he can come off screens and put up shots, while Patterson has a slow-release set shot that he only takes when he is wide open because Wall has created the shot for him. I'm not arguing Chism is a better prospect than Patterson right now, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him become a better NBA player than Pat. Chism is not a great shooter, but he is definitely good enough to be a role player in the NBA as a 4, which is the position he'll play in the NBA.

Chism is averaging 10 points, 0 assist, 5 boards, .8 blocks, and .8 steals. He has made 10 threes this year and shooting 35%. He has made 50/100 field goals. I would gamble to say you could figure out that percentage but since I read your delusional post, I assume you can't. That's 50%.

Patterson is shooting 47% from three point land. He is averaging 16 points 8 rebounds , 1 assist ,and 1 block a game. He has hit 102 field goals while chism has hit 50. He has more pps per game.

He is projected a hell of a lot higher. Wait, is chism even on the draft board? Patt is going to be a lottery pick.

So, Patt has better shooting percentages across the board, but I am delusional for thinking he is a better shooter? How does that work exactly?

you fail

Is that NBA scouts you are laughing at.

Seriously, Tennessee REALLY SHOULD stick to football.

What scouts have you talked to that said Patterson is projected as a 3 in the League? I'm going to venture out there and say none.

Wrong. I have already stated a scout drops info on a certain UK board. He has already said many times that Pattersons ability to move with the ball and hit the jumper will do him well in selling he can....wait for it......wait for it...........play the.....the.......THREEEEE!!!!!!!!

He will play a mix but it only helps his value and stock.

:clapping:

Let me ask you a question. Do you even know why Patterson came back? Do you? Let me help you.

He came back because he was told he might be a little undersized to play the FOUR IN THE NBA. He needed more work on his outside and perimeter shot. He also needed more wok on his ball handling ability. He was told standing under the basket was not going to get him paid. Now, he is almost identical in size to chism, a little lighter, with a much better NBA body.

Now I will ask you, what should chism work on?:good!:

Size has NOTHING to do with ability to play a certain position. If you say otherwise, then: DeJuan Blair, Brandon Bass, Udonis Haslem, Josh Smith, Carlos Boozer, Paul Millsap, Elton Brand, Glen Davis, Jon Brockman, Al Harrington, Zach Randolph, Carl Landry, Jason Maxiell, Kenyon Martin, Antonio McDyess, Leon Powe, David West, Hakim Warrick, and Shelden Williams all laugh at you. They all are about the same size, and about Chism's size. They all have different skill sets. None of them had a profoundly "polished" post game coming out of college(high school in J Smith's case). And they all still play Power Forward in the NBA. NBA coaches can turn a project 4(which is what Wayne is) into a good player, that is part of their job description. None of those guys have really "elite" talent and none are surefire Hall of Famers. They are all contributors(some major contributors, in fact) to their teams though.

I think you sell him short on athletic ability.
This could be an advantage in the post game(see Josh Smith and David West).

inability to put the ball on the floor, 0 jump shot, less than stellar post moves, softness, lack of in game IQ(BECAUSE OF THE SYSTEM YOU RUN), he won't cut it. NBA coaches can fix this, it's their job. If Wayne puts in the work, he will be a power forward in the NBA.
