They are definitely part of the problem and ignoring them as such is a big mistake.
A prominent right-wing activist who organized and
led large-scale rallies in Portland was arrested Wednesday in connection with the riot at the U.S. Capitol that former President Donald Trump helped incite.
Federal prosecutors allege Joe Biggs, a
Florida resident and member of the
Proud Boys, was among the first people to rampage through the building’s Rotunda on Jan. 6 after a small group smashed a window with a police shield and forced their way in,
according to a criminal complaint.
Biggs and fellow Proud Boy leader Enrique Tarrio had previously helped draw hundreds of right-wing activists from around the country to Portland on two separate occasions.
The pair led a march across the Hawthorne Bridge during their so-called “End To Domestic Terrorism” rally in August 2019, which was held to condemn the city’s self-described anti-fascist activists, or antifa.
Biggs and Tarrio returned to Portland last September to hold
a national Proud Boys rally in Delta Park.
