Anarchy In Portland

I'm gonna go ahead and say it's time for Trump to use the Insurgency Act on Antifa.

Portland's Dem leadership is absolutely powerless to stop the violence and protest if they wanted to at this point. They couldn't do it without National Guard assistance even if they wanted to now, and are too proud to ask for help.

This isn't about comparing partisan deliveries in speaking out against violence during a protest. This is about something like 95+ % of unrest being committed by one side. And it's not the side always falsely conflated as being wacist supermanacist.

All I know for certain is I'm not voting lefty.

It's time for Trump to be the adult in the room & follow through with IRL executive action about a promise. Not just play one on Twitter.

I watched both Conventions. Biden definitely against violence and looting-- and that majority police are good-- he doesn't want to defund them, etc.
May 31, he said this:
Former Vice President Joe Biden responded to the string of violent protests consuming the U.S. following the police killing of George Floyd, calling for protesters to stop the violence.

"Protesting such brutality is right and necessary. It’s an utterly American response. But burning down communities and needless destruction is not. Violence that endangers lives is not."

  • "Violence that guts and shutters businesses that serve the community is not. The act of protesting should never be allowed to overshadow the reason we protest. It should not drive people away from the just cause that protest is meant to advance."
  • "As President, I will help lead this conversation — and more importantly, I will listen. I will keep the commitment I made to George’s brother, Philonise, that George will not just be a hashtag. We must and will get to a place where everyone, regardless of race, believes that "to protect and serve" means to protect and serve them."

Biden was a senator for 30 some years and VP for 8 and did nothing to stem the tide of division. These are just more meaningless words.

I would have Trump call out the Far Right, like he does the Far Left. Be a President to AMERICANS not just the people who vote for him-- You don't see him calling White Supremacists thugs and SOB's or calling for violence against them. He's the President, and if he had acted like one of ALL from the beginning, then I think this country would have been in much better shape. This is for another thread, but he definitely needed to follow medical guidelines like the rest of the world on Covid-- who have all mostly recovered, while our country has 25 percent of deaths with 4 percent of the population. I never liked Trump, but came out and said I felt for him, and if he handled this well, I'd vote for him. I gave him his chance and I think he's the worst President that America has ever had.

^^Another informed through Facebook and CNN voter.

Biden is not the President, he can only condemn the violence and he has several times.

The far left are not flying Biden flags-- they say they are protesting police brutality. OTOH, the kid who shot people the other day was at a Trump rally, and the people who were going through the protesters in Portland last night were from the Portland Trump rally, flying Trump flags, shooting paint balls, etc. Those people should listen to Trump, but from where I sit, he is egging on the violence, not trying to stop it.

The far left dont care about Biden, this started 4 years ago with Trump and it ends with him. Its got a lot more to do with Trump not winning reelection than Biden winning one.

The kid that shot 3 people in WI the other night wasn't the beginning of violence (which I would include looting, burning, and the intimidation of citizens) in this recent book. It falls somewhere in like the 12th chapter.
The idea that the left is just protesting and the Trump supporters are responsible for the violence is asinine. I do agree its going to get worse before it gets better. You are going to see more confrontations like this going forward.

In truth the violence you have been witnessing has been ignored by the local leaders in some places to the point they have totally lost control. And ironically in some situations have had to beef up their security in their own neighborhoods to protect themselves.
The only way to get that back under control is force. The same force many have talked about defunding or totally disbanding.

This can't be right. @luthervol went out and got something to eat on a random street in Atlanta just last night??
My version is much closer to the truth.
You guys see a video of morons being stupid and extrapolate it into cities are being burned to the ground nation wide.
That is nothing but propagandized "fear porn" and just stupid beyond belief.

As a displaced Tennessean who lives in Charlotte, wondering how they made this list? Had exactly 1 night of half arsed rioting...while Atlanta and others still have issues.

Not a Charlotte lover honestly, even though I have lived here 30 out of my 43years...that said, as a 43y0 white guy who is frequently on the "bad" sides of this city, there is exactly zero antifa presence here as far as any organized activities, and black folks here don't give a damn about the drama elsewhere either.

In short, Charlotte is no more a sheithole than it was 6 months ago before any of this started, because it isnt a factor here. Thankfully, the police chief went on the 6 o'clock news after that 1st night and said the police would meet any violence with more violence, and the thugs here knew from experience that meant "stack bodies". Cops here will both beat down, and shoot and kill folks, and both are very well documented. I thank them these days for their service. There is a huge black population here, and a large latino presence as well. We all get along around these parts though. Weird to see Charlotte on that list..
I actually have no idea how they built the list...I found this on the interwebs. People must be interested though or Vegas wouldn't be taking odds on it???

You got him on that one. Are you suggesting he declare martial law in the affected cities and make good on his promise?
Is street violence better or worse since he came into office? Has he stoked or ameliorated divisions?

It's interesting how people who actually live in those places invariably see them in a better light than the people who have little to no first hand knowledge. It's almost like people's views have been distorted and manipulated by the media (right-wing).

And you’re probably stupid enough to believe Biden/Harris will be able to restore order.
He is stupid enough to think the riots are trying to help Biden and will just stop if Biden is elected. They fail to realize these ***** hate Biden as much as they do trump. It’s like they learned nothing in Weimar Germany. this is exactly how the nazis gained power. Trying to placate these morons will bring nothing but destruction.
It’s funny that they call themselves Antifa which is exactly what they are.

And Charlottesville and the Michigan state house were distorted and manipulated by the left wing media.

It goes both ways. You know that, but you excuse the bad behavior of the left because your opinion (continuum) doesn’t allow you the intellectual honesty to admit that.

It's a shame the Dems finally realized the gas lighting wasn't working in the polls, otherwise Trump probably would run away with it.

So the shooter was a Biden voter ...

More violence from your party. I know you're loving it. Embrace your party.
It amazes me when groups are labeled “far right”.
When you google and read their websites you find out that “far right” often means diverse members. If they’re White supremacist they really suck at it.

And that would be the faulty of the people throwing the temper tantrum, not Trump.
He is right. Things do temporarily get better if you just give the terrorists whatever they want.

Petulant children burn things down in a temper tantrum because they don't like Trump, and that's Trump's fault.

That sums up this generation of awful parents so well it hurts.
